I have been trying since February to get back on track and loose all the weight I gained this pass year. I wasn't working. Left a really bad situation, took a year off and have the body to prove it.
My daughters have also suffered due to my not so healthy eating habits and we all need to loose it before we go to WDW in September.
I don't have much extra money so a gym is out and so is any kind of programs. I need to do this the old fashion way. On my own.
Any good tips and words of support would be great. Today is my start date.
I had healthy cereal for breakfast, one cup of coffee, vs. my normal 5 cups, and healthy salad for lunch. Chicken for dinner. Any suggestions on what to do with it would be great.
Need to lose 25 pounds by Aug 1st. Aside from Disney trip I have a few things I would like to look good for Aug as well.:woohoo:
Thanks all.

I am sure you can do it on your own! My niece just got out of college and is starting out as a teacher and doesnt have too much money yet, she said she wanted to buy some equipment and join a gym but she couldn't afford to. She went to the store and bought 1 DVD. Its Billy Blanks Tae Bo. She lost 28 lbs in 3 months and looks terrific. She puts it on after work and says its a great workout. I saw her yesterday, she went from 183 and is now 155. She wants to lose 15 more as she is 5'2" tall and she said she will be happy with that. I have never tried Tae bo before, but after seeing her results, i am definitely getting one of those DVD's today! Good Luck!

Thanks for the encouragement. I need it more then I can tell you. As for your niece, omg good for her. I have to tell you I did use tae bo a few years ago when it first came out and I needed to lose fast for a upcoming wedding I was in and that stuff does work. It is not easy at all but you know the saying No pain , No gain aint it the truth.:cool1:

I know what you mean! I was at the jersey shore this weekend and my dd and niece were trying on bathing suits, so I thought i would join them. big mistake! my thighs arent ready for the summer!:rotfl: oh well, i'll just keep plugging along. Am on the right track now, am making good decisions about eating, and most importantly I am excersizing for the first time in a long time.

Ok, first of all.....don't be so hard on yourself. It happens to the best of us! (fat that is! LOL!)

I firmly believe that 2 months is not enough time to lose 25 pounds. If you lose that fast chances are you will gain it back pretty quickly too. That is my experience.

Could you be satisfied with losing 15 pounds? I think that ANY loss will boost your confidence and will allow you to lose slower and maintain your weight loss.

Now, for exercise. Personally, I LIKE walking outside, which is FREE! But you may also want to check out some thrift stores or garage sales for equipment, video tapes, etc....I have gotten some good things that way.

Also, if you can find a partner or someone to be accountable to, that will help!

Write down ALL foods you eat! this helps me a lot. A little notebook to carry in your purse is less than $1 at Walmart.

Well thanks for the support ladies, lord knows I can use it.
Yes I do have spport. My 2 teenage daughers who also need and want to lose before freshman and senior years start this September.
We do walk outside and do the walking tapes as well. Its just hard to stay motivated. I work 40 plus a week and honestly its just hard to get myself back in the groove. I was walking 4 miles a day before our last trip in 05 and lost 35 pounds in 4 months.
I know what I have to do its just getting my big old butt out of bed early enough to do it.:rotfl:

Hi-

Do get some new sneakers to offset shin splints and other foot predicaments.

I recommend hitting the library to get some work out videos. You can try something new & have something available for rainy days. No excuses! I invested in some hand weights too. When I find a video I like or hear about something intriguing, I try to buy it on E-bay to save $. I also love checking out cook books from the library.

When I get bored of a work out video, I then mute the sound & jam with some of my favorite music... anything to stave off boredom! I recommend walking, keeping a food diary & pair the couch potato to 5k plan available at coolrunning.com with any other work out you can do.

Best of luck!

I am starting today too. I looked at out photopass pictures from our trip two weeks ago and I can't believe how bad I looked. I knew the scale had gone up a bit but I didn't think I looked that much different. I recommend joining sparkpeople.com it is totally free and has an online journal to put what you eat in and it tracks all of you calories, fat, carbs, fiber and protein. They also have a weight and measurement tracker. I had great results with them a few years ago after DD was born and I just logged on again this morning.

Good Luck!

Amy

Good for you for taking the bull by the horns and being accountable to yourself first!

I know you said programs were not an option, due to money, so I wanted to make sure you had heard of sparkpeople.com. It is a free weight loss website that my husband has been using to track his food. There is a community there as well, they have information on working out, plus they send out inspiring emails on a regular basis. I'm not sure if any of that sounds appealing to you, but since it is free, I thought it might be worth a try for you.

Walking is great! - if you ever want to kick it up a notch, running burns more calories per minute and the couch to 5K program is a great, free plan to start running.

That is so fantastic that your daughters are on board with you. It makes it so much easier if others in your house are on the same page as you are. Good luck!

It sounds like you've received great advice so far. I agree that the 25 pounds seems a lot in a little time. Don't be discouraged by this comment though. Be determined! You keep working at being a healthier you.

I know it is difficult to keep off all that we have worked to remove. Good for you in knowing you want to keep working at it.

You are lucky that you have a "team" at home to help along the way.

I've heard the library is a good source and I do like the idea of the garage sales or Salvation Army for whatever they may have.

Never give up!

I have to agree with Tiger Lily and DawnM, I think 25 pounds in 2 months is a lot in a very short amount of time. Can it be done, probably, but I don't think losing weight that fast is the answer for long term. I don't want to be discouraging, I am just offering you my realistic opinion based on my experience. In the 9 weeks that you have until August 1st I would think 15-18 pounds is more realistic. But having a plan and a "team" effort will certainly aide you and hopefully motivate everyone.

I would suggest, as been said before, to write down what you are eating, this way you can keep track of what you are putting in your body and make changes where needed. Also, drink LOTS of water, it makes a big difference and exercise. Walking is always a great option if you can't go to the gym and you can get your "team" together and you can walk together. If you own bikes, get out for a bike ride. Even if you are only getting in 30 minutes 3-4 times a week you are making a difference. I work 40 hours a week and make sure I schedule at least 30 minutes of exercise 3-4 times a week.

As for breakfast, something I enjoy that holds me pretty well is 1/2 cup of Egg Beaters, made into an omlet, then I put 1 wedge of Laughing Cow cheese in the middle and I fry up 2 oz. of ham. I top the omlet with salsa and eat the ham on the side. Try to include a couple of servings of dairy into your day, for some reason dairy aids in weight loss. Vegetables are also a good filler and they are good for you, why not have two different vegetables with your chicken dinner? If you are looking for variety, McCormicks makes a lot of great rubs for your meats, it changes up the taste without extra calories.

Good luck!

Well bathing suit wise,I bought board shorts this year(the bermuda shorts that you can wear swimming) with a bikini top and the shorts hide all my trouble areas. I Thought I would look old and frumpy but I look quite cute:goodvibes even though I'm only down 7 pounds and nine inches(dieting and going to curves for 2 months) Good luck:thumbsup2
