Crush's Coaster

If you click on the link, the copy the URL, paste it into Google then click search, google gives you the option of a transalation into English.

The translation didn't work the first time for me, but it did the second time.

I guess if you have saved a different language in your google preferences it will translate it to that instead, but didn't see Scots as a language.

I had a little go at translating the article - with a little help from google. It's a bit long, so here is the part for crush's coaster - sounds like I should avoid eating before I go on this!!

Today, two weeks before the first official soft-opening, we visited the building site of Toon Studios and tested two new attractions – Crush’s Coaster and Cars Rally Race. We could not bring back any photographs or video, but let me give you the experience which we had at DLRP.fr by testing these new long awaited attractions of Walt Disney Studios.

Let us start at the beginning. One of the things which we had not been able to see until now, is not relating to the attractions, but to the cast members which work there. Their costumes are completely new and specific to three attractions – Crush’s Coaster, Cars Rally Race and Flying Carpets. The cast members of the Flying Carpets will join their new colleagues of Crush’s Coaster and Cars Rally Race as soon as they officially join them. In the long-term, the teams will rotate on these three attractions during the day, which explains the presence of a common costume.

Composed of a red under-sweater, cream shirt with Disney characters and a blue coat. This costume is decorated with the logos of the three attractions where it will be found. Moreover, it is not particularly thematic because of the fact that it will be used in very different universes (sea-beds, Route 66 & Agrabah)

The outside of Toon Studio we’ve shown it to you several times. We will talk about it soon, once the boarding of the new land are withdrawn, with photographs. While waiting, we’ll focus more on the attractions themselves. Note that they will remain closed the next week even if Toon Studio will be accessible to the public.

First of all – Crush’s Coaster

It is of course the most awaited attraction of Toon Studio this year. We expected much of it, and we can say that we are not disappointed! It is quite simple – all those who tested the attraction today (partners of EuroDisneyland Imagineering) left with a smile on their lips, signs that the attraction is a true remedy against the trouble.

Some of you will know already that the minimum height for the ride has not been fixed yet. For the moment, it is 1m20, but this size may decrease further following the first tests with children. The question probably relates more to the safety of passengers that may have too large a fright in the attraction.

(Can’t quite translate this one, but I believe it’s talking about how in parts it is a dark ride and young children could be traumatised)

Many people are worried about the speed which the vehicles in the dark-ride part of the attraction travel. Since it is nevertheless a coaster, it is legitimate to think that if it goes too quickly you will miss the superb decorations of this dark-ride – which we will keep secret to preserve the effect of the surprise.

Be reassured. The vehicles are quickly braked when they enter the building of the dark-ride after the short passage in the middle of the external blue rocks in front of the attraction. All the remainder is done at a fallback speed perfectly adapted to this kind of equipment. We can even say that right before the entry into the submarine (and thus, the top spin of the coaster part), the speed of the tortoises is lower than the dark-rides of Fantasyland.

The coaster part of the ride is done with sharp pace. The first descent is particularly vigorous and all the remainder is continued at a tremendous speed, in an environment that makes us think of Space Mountain: Mission 2. The coaster takes us along the middle of the Be-Australian current, and to recreated it the imagineers used the same technology as in the coaster in Discoveryland, instead of white stars, bluish bubbles are projected everywhere.

Apart from the bubbles and bluish tunnels which are crossed at several times, the coaster part does not have any other decorations – no algae suspended from the ceiling. The produced effect is particularly successful!

(Unsure of this paragraph – any assistance welcomed!!)

The rotation of the vehicles is entirely free and is affected by the weight of the passengers. Thus, four adults will turn less than one adult placed in a corner of a vehicle, which will be unbalanced, therefore making the maximum of rotations. Moreover, having tried Crush’s Coaster three times, I can say that even being used to the rotation it has some effect.

Today, some adults left feeling a little ‘inconvenienced’ by the ride, whereas the youngest children were resilient. Amusing! But unless you are particularly sensitive, everyone should go on as the vehicles are comfortable.

For this reason, the safety straps are particularly well designed, as on all the other models of the spinning coaster by manufacturer Maurer Sohne. Far from the harness blocking the shoulders as in Space Mountain or Rock n Rollercoaster, this one comes just to block you to the size. A broad horizontal bar comes across your belly to hold you, which is very comfortable. And for those who like to be held, a rigid loop leaves this bar vertically, so you can cling to it during your course in the East-Australian current.

But if there is one detail which makes you want to go on Crush’s Coaster again and again, it is that the ride is never the same twice because of the free rotation of the vehicles. Moreover, the dark-ride part, during which the vehicles do not turn, is completely different depending on whether you are facing direction or in reverse. All the decorations are doubled so that they can be seen by the passengers in both directions, and we could not say which is best.

If the front facing makes it possible more or less to anticipate the decorations towards which the vehicle moves, the reverse direction makes it possible to benefit better from certain strong moments, like the external part in the rocks. On the other hand, the reverse travellers need to pay attention when the top spins start as they are quite violent. However, the shock does not pose a problem if you are in reverse direction we advise you to hang on well.

Let us speak about capacity, because it is a worrying subject. It is already known that Crush’s Coaster does not have fastpass and that it will be necessary for you to queue. However, the capacity of the attraction under normal operation is not enormous, which leads us to believe that the waiting times will often be long. Moreover, the line advances slowly because of the particular fitting of the unloading/dispatching platform.

Indeed, over the length of the platform, the harnesses open to release the passengers of the tortoise only after a third of the platform has been travelled. Without the vehicle stopping, the passengers have another third of the platform to get out and get into the vehicle. The passengers do not have the last third length to embark, which is not easy to achieve the first time, especially as the space available for personal belongings is not enormous, even really really reduced.

Of course, there are nets for passengers to place their belongings in, but apart from a pair of glasses or a compact camera, you will not fit anything else in this net as it is ridiculously small. For backpacks, it will be necessary for you to tighten them in order to make them a place between your legs, where the bar of the safety straps is. Those who are used to the attraction will do this easily but the majority of visitors are likely to be lost by this, forcing the operator of the attraction to stop the vehicle so that they can settle correctly. This will further reduce the estimated capacity of Crush’s Coaster

Thank you for the translation Jennifer. Hope the min. height on dlrpmagic is correct otherwise I'm going to have some disappointed customers with me on our trip ;)

Hope the min. height on dlrpmagic is correct otherwise I'm going to have some disappointed customers with me on our trip ;)

I think the one on dlrpmagic is a bit more realistic - 1m20 seems a bit tall (what is that? 4'??) I think it's just an initial height mainly to protect small children as they're still trying to find out how affected they will be by the ride - which kind of makes sense but I'm 23 and am petrified by Snow White so I don't think it's a very good indicator.

Reading that though, I think my stomach may be the sufferer on this ride!! All that spinning!!:dance3:
