Cruising, Wining, and Disney Dining - Two 2012 PTRs in One! **TR LINK UP**

Loving the Scotland pics! I can't even imagine how exhausting it is to travel to Europe from the States (though hopefully I will have that experience some time in my life!). I can see what you mean about the city not being too exciting when you have been to other big cities. It is when you get into what is unique about the country that seems to be most interesting. I look forward to more updates!

I was excited to be there but so tired! I think if I could've slept on the plane, I would've felt better. Upcoming posts are sure to be more interesting! :)

That fountain is gorgeous! Great pics! Sorry you didn't love Glasgow-- that bouncy Stone Henge does look like it would be fun for the inner child, though! :rotfl:

We all asked if we could bounce on Stone Henge but we didn't have time. :rotfl:

Hmm for an 8:35 ADR at CP, I'd be at the AK bus stop by 7:30. Even if you get a bus right away, you won't be at the bus stop at MK until like 8:05, get in line for the early ADR times, and be on main street by 8:15-8:20 best case. So you'd have a little time to take pics before breakfast. But you might also have to wait 15 minutes or so for a bus. ETA: also, you can check in to CP if you get there early, because there will undoubtedly be quite the line and you won't be seated on time anyway...haha

Pics from Glasgow were actually really neat! The cemetary was cool, as was the fountain. Art gallery was weird, those heads are freaky. Glad you had a nice group on the trip - they were all travel agents right? Or was this a mixed group?

That foam party must have been so freaking awesome. Holy crap that looks like fun! :rotfl2:

Thanks! That means waking up at 6:30 and getting Kris up by at least 7. It's Scotland all over again with the early wakeup times.

Yes, everyone was a travel agent. We were a mix of AAA and Liberty Travel. I met a lot of great people! That's one of the reasons I love these trips so much!

Great update...love the random Elvis!!:lmao:

I have no idea where that came from! :lmao: It's all anyone talked about on the bus ride back to the hotel.

fess up you really changed your ADR at CP so you could be there with the cool crowd for the early seatings.
:bitelip:

Loving your TR for Scotland trip! It all looks beautiful, and looks like you are having a great time!! Can't wait to read more!

Hi everyone! I got my cruise documents in the mail on Monday. One month to go! Now on with the Scotland TR:

We awoke bright and early on Sunday at 6:30 AM. :faint: I fell asleep around 10-10:30 but I still did not feel rested. Breakfast was at 7:30 in the hotel, buffet style. It was the usual breakfast fare except for the bacon which looked more like sliced ham. It's very thick there. Also, they serve mushrooms with every meal. I like mushrooms so I had no problem with this but I heard other people complaining about it.

Anyway, we were on the bus by 8AM and headed off to the Scottish Highlands by way of Loch Lomond. On the way, our tour guide Rosie played us an old Scottish song about Loch Lomond. I always thought this was meant to be a cheerful song but after having it explained to me in detail, it's not! It's about two Jacobite soldiers who were capture by the British and told one of them could live & the other would die. The song is sung by the person who was sentenced to die, the low road meaning the road to the underworld.

O ye'll tak' the high road, and Ah'll tak' the low (road)
And Ah'll be in Scotlan' afore ye
Fir me an' my true love will ne-er meet again
On the bonnie, bonnie banks o' Loch Lomon'.

So that was a cheery albeit interesting start to our morning! ;)

This is more of what I picture when I think about Scotland.

Our first stop was in Luss, a cute little village on the banks of Loch Lomond. We stopped to snap a few pictures and stretch our legs.

I saw these guys in the parking area.

The people that live there are obsessed with garden gnomes. Every backyard looks like this!

We climbed back on the bus and began the journey to our next stop Glencoe, where we'd be having lunch. More to come...

Yes and he'll also be in MK that day! :thumbsup2

Oh awesome! I've read (lurked...sorry FF lol) his TR's. That'd be cool.

Great Scotland update! That backyard was crazy!! hehehe. Too funny that you got a picture. I like mushrooms too, but did not enjoy them when I spent 2 weeks in the UK. Though, I loved all the Indian food they had there, and actually had much better food during those 2 weeks than I ever imagined. Hope you also had good food experiences! :goodvibes

I love your village pictures! I think that goes beyond a like of lawn ornaments. :scared1: Crazy!!

Most of the food was great minus the haggis that was served everywhere with every meal! I never want to see it again as long as I live. Unless it's somewhere in the UK pavilion at Epcot. In that case, I'm making Kris try it. :rotfl:

I know!! Every lawn in the village looked just like that! I think our tour guide said they have competitions during certain times of the year and college students steal them, take them all over the place & snap pictures, and eventually return them. :rotfl2:

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. Our weekend was fabulous! Didn't do much on Friday, just went out to dinner & had a couple drinks at a local bar. Ended up going to Walmart because Kris need a few things and I picked up The Wanted's cd. Yeah, I like UK boy bands. Who knew? :rotfl: Actually when I was in Scotland, they would play their music constantly in the bars and I had no idea who they were but wow, are their songs catchy! So yeah, I blame Scotland.

On Saturday, my best friend Katie threw a graduation party for her boyfriend Dave. It was at Jakeabob's, which is this place right on the water. She ended up renting out the tiki bar for everyone and I spent the day drinking sangria, Corona, and watching the Ranger game. They won 3-0, just FYI ;) King Henrik is the man. On Sunday Kris and I went to Englishtown flea market and sold some things from the house we no longer have any use for. We ended up making $120 to put toward the trip! Still trying to pay off that dining plan :) In retrospect, I should've put on sunblock both of these days because my arms, face, and chest are burnt to a crisp. Ouch. The weather was gorgeous all weekend and I hope we get some of that for our cruise which is 25 DAYS AWAY!!!

On with the Scotland TR!

When I last left off, we were just leaving Luss and continuing on toward our lunch stop in Glencoe. The scenery just kept getting wilder, more rugged, & more beautiful the further north we traveled. Check it out:

Quick shot from the bus but our tourguide Rosie told us that this was built and used as a pulpit hundreds of years ago.

On the way through all of this beautiful scenery, we were told we were in Macdonald clan territory. A lot of people on the trip were interested in which clans they were from. I'm not Scottish so this did not apply to me. Rosie told us if you're a Campbell and you come into Macdonald territory, watch out. She advised all who descend from the Campbell clan to duck while we were passing through. Rosie told us a story of one time, a bus full of Campbell clan descendants were touring the area and who knows why, had a sign saying Campbell put on the front of their bus. An elderly man came out of his home and started hitting the bus with his cane! It's no joke! All this is due to the massacre of the Macdonald clan at the hands of the Campbells. You can read the story here if you wish. Massacre of Glencoe

We arrived at the Isle of Glencoe Hotel for lunch. After a quick show around, we were taken to the dining room and had a beautiful view!

We had a light lunch of soup & finger sandwiches and of course, tea! No meal is complete without tea. A lot of us were psyched because this hotel had wifi. :rotfl: International phones leave much to be desired so almost everyone was checking their facebook, email, etc. I tweeted my location with a picture and I just noticed a couple weeks ago that the hotel tweeted me back & said they hoped I was enjoying my visit. I thought that was so cute! LOL.

After lunch, it was back to the bus to travel to our next destination, perhaps the most famous in all of Scotland: Loch Ness.

More to come!

Love the Scotland pics- just beautiful!

Can't believe how close your cruise is! Yay!
