Cruising the Dream on our 1st cruise ever!!! (5 Night Double Dip)

The only Jungle Juice I've encountered is non-alcoholic. I think they do an alholic version in AK? This is just a bunch of fruit juices blended together. I think it's mango, papaya, orange, and pineapple but I may be wrong. It is just so heavenly! :cloud9:

The Fairy Garden was really amazing. I commented to one of the CMs how large it was compared to the one they had in 2008, and it's because the new Tinkerbell movies have become so popular.

Oh wow what a combination. That does sound magnificent! Definitely going to check this out when i'm there.

David and I have talked about the Disney Cruise Line, but were worried about the number of Children, we like to cruise with adults. That is why we choose the times that we do, but seeing everyone's pictures from DCL makes us want to try it!

What did you think about the number of Children on board?

My husband and I have done four DCL trips so far - two with kids and two without. Both types are great fun! We did family things on the with kids trips, and we did adult activities on the no kids trips. Disney makes sure there are enough for any age and group to do. The best adult thing is Serenity Bay on Castaway Cay - so peaceful and quiet!

I love to hear things like this :) do you have another cruise planned?

After thoroughly enjoying the Fairy Garden we finally made our way out of Epcot. However, we came across Club Cool on the way and I just had to stop and try the Beverly. I had read so many people had thought it was horrible, and wanted to try it for myself. My oh my was it beyond horrible! I didn't try to trick mom into trying it, but I do wish she had the camera ready for my reaction. We tried a few others, and thought the Brazilian one was downright delicious. Coke mixed with orange soda. That thoroughly erased the terribleness of the Beverly.

Finally we made our way out of Epcot and of course had to take some pictures on the way.

I first stopped for my souvenir popcorn bucket.

and mom got an icecream

Happy with our treats we headed to Peter Pan and encountered this beautiful bird in Frontierland. Of course I was enthralled and amazed how few people noticed it.

it definitely noticed us watching, but didn't leave.

Thank goodness we had the marvelous DVC FPs or we probably would not have waited. This is absolutely one of my favorite rides of all the four parks, but I just can't stand waiting in line for that long. :)

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121374.jpg

We then went and did one last ride of Snow White with only a 13 minute wait. I am totally sad they're taking it down, and don't understand why they keep some originals and take some out. I love the new rides, but with all the room they have why can't they just have both. :confused3

We took a ride on the Carousel, and then did Winnie the Pooh. We definitely should have used our FPs for Pooh but thought the line would go quicker than the advertised 30 minutes. I will say we had a lovely interaction with the cutest little girl which made the line go a little faster.

some progress on the new part

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121385.jpg

I'm really hoping it'll be open for my September trip, but I haven't seen a schedule on when they're opening which parts so I'm not sure.

We wanted to do Pirates but they were out of rum so were asked to return later, so we did the Tiki Room instead. I must say I do not like that they took out Zazu and Iago. To me they made the show light and funny. I understand wanting to take it back to the roots of how Walt wanted it to be but I really liked it 'Under New Management'. After that we started heading out, it was around 6:45 and we had a dinner reservation at California Grill at 7:30.

I just love this sculpture.

What fabulous news!!! :cool1: Thanks for sharing, that brought a big smile to my face :) You'll get to see all the Christmas decorations on the ship, they go all out with the decorations. If he doesn't love it I'll be shocked! I'm so glad you were finally able to convince him to book one :)

OMG! Pam! You and your mom are both so young! You have been posting pictures of your mom, and I just assumed that was you! You are much wiser and and articulate than I would have realized for someone so young!

Although I am constantly surprised by DISers everywhere, I've been reading a dining review of excellent quality and I just found out the poster isn't even old enough to drink! Sorry about the mistake! :rotfl2:

You gave me quite a chuckle! I've always felt like an old soul so don't like to post my age, but I'm 29, and mom is 56. I posted a picture of us at the very beginning so as not to surprise anybody :) Thank you for the compliments, I appreciate them :) I never say anything when the J & Ks start talking about age because I'm semi worried they'd judge me for being so much younger than most of them.

That's the words I was looking for! Yes, I get that from your writing and the PMs we have shared.

I love those ostrich topiarys...they have to be the coolest topiarys I have ever seen

They were really amazing. We didn't see them the day before, must have gone out the side we came in on. They had a Fantasia theme there at the entrance.

You are too kind! Thanks for caring!:flower3:

Continuing the afternoon of our last day on the beautiful Disney Dream we headed down to the stateroom to do some packing and cleaned up for the evening. We were not feeling the blues of the vacation ending since we were heading to Animal Kindom Lodge in the morning. It was a really good feeling knowing that the vacation wasn't ending, just changing. Don't get me wrong, we were not ready to leave the ship, but it would have been much worse if we knew we were going home in the morning.

The show of the evening was Believe, and it was my least favorite of the three. I enjoyed parts of it, but it was a bit on the mushy side and perhaps not the best choice when people are already emotional that their cruise is coming to a close.

After the show we stopped by Shutters which was packed! I had read time and time again not to wait until the last night to buy your pictures and I ignored that very good advice. Try not to wait until the last night if you can. We left for now with the intention of coming back later.

Headed back to the room and finished our packing. It was too early to put out the bags so I was going to rush to the room after dinner to put them out. You don't have to put out your bags, but if you don't you'll have to drag them to breakfast and out the ship in the morning. It was very nice to have them waiting down in the customs area.

Our last dinner was at Animator's Palate, and even though we enjoyed spending the last dinner with our wonderful new friends, the meal left much to be desired. It was the See Ya Real Soon menu and not the best.

We started with the Spinach and Artichoke Dip, which was good but not great.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121040.jpg

Mom must have gotten this salad since I have a picture of it, but can't remember if she enjoyed it or not.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121039.jpg

I had this wedge salad, which was pretty good.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121042.jpg

Around this point I was getting freezing so headed to the room for my sweatshirt and put out the bags which left no stress for rushing to the room after dinner.

Before I left my diet coke was empty, and when I got back it was still empty. I was gone at least ten minutes. Up until this point Barry was a most wonderful drink refiller, but I was left thirsty most of the meal even though I tried so many times to catch Barry's eye as he was racing to all the other tables he was taking care of. So when he finally came by I figured I'd have one last Konk Kooler. I might as well have asked for an alien eyeball, he had no idea what I was talking about. He even asked our server Charlie to come over and ask what I wanted, and he had no idea what I was talking about. You'd think that people who have each worked for DCL for many years would know what a signature drink from CC would be, all the bars on the ship did. Oh well, I just asked for one of the specialty drinks on the menu, I think it was a peach and icecream drink. I got a headache within minutes so didn't drink any more, basically a waste of $5.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121046.jpg

We both had just the pasta from one of the entrees. It was very delicious but very heavy. Neither of us could finish it.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121043.jpg

I also had some salmon and vegetables from another entree. I ordered way too much food. The salmon was dry, the zucchini was really good though.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121044.jpg

They gave mom a birthday dessert which she enjoyed.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121047.jpg

and also the Baked Alaska, which she had always wanted to try but was not impressed by.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121051.jpg

I had the sugar free Cappuccino Mouse, which was excellent.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121050.jpg

The restaurant really was cute, but none of the meals we had there, we also had breakfast in the morning, were impressive.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121052.jpg

Our wonderful tablemates and servers.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121049-1.jpg

We were still going to see everybody at breakfast so didn't say goodbye, and we didn't stay and chat because most of them had to go finish packing. It was still a lovely evening even though the food wasn't the best.

In the photo with your tablemates, the lady 3rd from the left, do you remember her name? She looks very much like a lady I used to work with.

Oh yes, Maggie from Canada, I think more specifically B.C. but she might have moved there or moved away from there I can't remember which at the moment.

The mix of orange soda and coke is called Mezzo Mix and is actually from Germany. I grew up with this and love it and it always makes me happy when I see it at Epcot.

I am glad that you had your special Fast Passes for Peter Pan. I love this ride, too, but very rarely ride it as the line is always so long.

Oops! I remembered wrong, thanks for the info. It was so delicious :)

I missed doing Peter Pan in December because of the horribly long line, so was very glad to be able to get in.

We didn't have a long wait until our beeper went off, maybe 5 minutes, and were taken upstairs and immediately to our table. We were seated on the opposite side of the restaurant than the last time we had been there which was nice, and right next to the window which was perfect.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121409.jpg

I had noted on our reservation that we were celebrating both of our birthdays, mom's was right before our trip and mine was right after, and they had the table all decorated with the cutest castle confetti. Rob was our waiter, and he was very accomodating. He was not the most cheerful of waiters but was still very good at his job.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121404.jpg

We had a perfect view of the Grand Floridian which was so beautiful.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121405.jpg

we love the bread here

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121407.jpg

We had the cheese plate on our previous visit and knew we would get it again. It was just as delicious as before. The honey they have paired with one of the cheeses is one of the most delectable I've ever tasted and I tried to buy some from them but it wasn't possible.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121406.jpg

We also shared the Triple Cheese Flatbread which was fabulous.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121408.jpg

Mom had the California Strawberry Salad which was amazing. She let me have a bite and I wish I had gotten it myself.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121411.jpg

I, unfortunately, chose the Potato Gnocchi with wild mushrooms, edamame, and poached egg. I asked them to leave off the pancetta, and I'm sure that adds to the flavor but I don't eat red meat so thought it would be fine without it. To me it was quite unsavory. I ate what I could and didn't leave hungry but I definitely won't get this again.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121410.jpg

for dessert Rob was going to bring us both birthday cake but I declined mine since I have the sugar problem, mom actually got hers wrapped up because she just had to have the creme brulee but when she eventually ate it she said it was fabulous.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121412.jpg

here is mom's Maple Creme Brulee. She said it was an experience. A positive one :)

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121414.jpg

I on the other hand had only the one sugar free choice, a trio of Chai Chocolate Cappuccino, Pear & Marcona Almond Rice Pudding, and Butternut Squash Pana Cotta. I displayed disinterest when Rob was taking our dessert orders and he promised that if I didn't like it he would take it off the bill. Well the only thing worthy was the chocolate cappuccino. I took bites of the others and they were terrible. Sometimes it is possible to get too creative with food. Rob very kindly did take it off the bill. In my mind I counted it as my birthday cake since they were willing to give me a free dessert anyway.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121413.jpg

At some point during dessert Illuminations started so we were able to watch it from our excellent vantage point which was very nice. We decided not to stay and watch MK's fireworks on the viewing platform because we wanted to head to MK and see if POC was up and running. So after taking care of our bill, which the TiW card helped very nicely with, we headed out.

This was part of an arrangement on the bar, and I couldn't resist a picture.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse20121417.jpg

On the way to MK we realized we were so tuckered after such a wonderful day we decided to just head back home. On the way to the bus the fireworks started and we stopped at a bench and enjoyed a few minutes of them. It was an excellent viewing spot, right next to the buses. Before they completely stopped an AKV bus pulled up so we caught that and headed back. It was before the hoards had made it out so nobody had to stand which is always nice.

It was a chore to walk back to the room, we were so tired! We managed to watch an episode of That 70's Show and drifted off to sleep. We had tried to find a movie on TV but couldn't find one, and of course I had forgotten about the movie rentals available until we were searching. For anyone who doesn't know they have movies to rent in Zawadi Marketplace, and for DVC members they are free. You can take out two movies at a time.

I am sorry that your birthday dinner at California Grill was less than magical. It unfortunately is pretty much the same experience that we had at Graham's birthday dinner in 2010. I loved the location and the view, but the food was decidedly not up to expectation and nowhere near as good as we had at other signature restaurants.
