Cruising on Points

Well we've done one cruise on points (Magic) and at the time thought it was a good use of the points. But looking at the latest points charts, the points have gone up so much I just can't see us doing it again. I just don't want to give up that large amount of points for a cruise. In fact the cost of a DCL cruise in general is so high, I just can't justify sailing with them at all. Not when you can get just as good cruise on other cruise lines for a lot less.

The only reason I cruised Disney last year was that I could use my points

If I am paying for a cruise it is gong to be on a line with more realistic pricing

Agreed, although those who say "Never cruise on points" will be quick to tell you that once you rent your points you can use the cash for anything, even for a cruise on Carnival or RCCL.

To me the extra value gained by renting is greatly offset by the increased risk and hassle of the rental process. We have not rented our points yet and it would be just our luck that the first time we choose to do so, our renter would demand upgrades, (costing us more points), then tear up the room, and then vanish, leaving us on the hook for thousands of dollars.
