Hi!

We are a family of 8 likely booking three cabins for our family. We are also traveling with other family members and friends in other cabins. Does anyone have experience with that and can tell me what that looks like as far as what to expect? I'm not looking to give concierge benefits to those not staying concierge, just curious to help evaluate the value of just one cabin being concierge. My kids will likely spend most of their time in the kids clubs and so I am interested in the concierge perks for my partner and I.

Thanks!

I know there was a heated thread on this topic a little while ago. The concierge perks are great if your budget allows you to do so. The non-concierge people can visit your cabin without any restrictions.
When board you will have a welcome aboard meeting with the concierge staff to make sure your plans are all set.
Explain to them about you travel situation that you are traveling with non-concierge people. Don't push matters and let any magical pixie dust moments just happen.

You can expect that only the passengers registered in the concierge cabins will be able to take advantage of the concierge benefits, including priority boarding, and booking of port excursions and specialty dining at 120 days unless those in the non-concierge cabins are CC platinum members. I'm not sure I see the benefit unless you would plan to take advantage of those things and the other concierge benefits (lounge, private deck, etc.) and leave your family to board later and use the public areas on the ship.

We loved staying in concierge and used the lounge a lot. And it took a lot of the hassles away so I enjoyed the trip more. However, if you have a bunch of other family and friends on the ship then you would probably want to be with them versus just you and your partner hanging in the lounge. It might not be that beneficial in your situation.

The first thing to do is link your dining reservations. When I sent my request for Palo dining to concierge at the 120-day mark, I told them how many adults would be dining in total. The only person's name on the reservation was mine, but it showed after booking that it was a 4-top dining table instead of a 2-top, for both Palo Brunch and Palo Dinner. Shoreside concierge did not ask for specific details like their cabin number, names, or anything like that. I just said that my in-laws were joining us in Palo, and could they please reserve 4 seats for us. I did not try to pre-book excursions, spa treatments, or anything else for them, so I can't speak to that. Everything went smoothly. This was two years ago on the Wonder, but unless something has changed, I think concierge would be very open with you about what you can and cannot do for your linked non-concierge cabins. I hope you have an amazing time!

We just did something similar in January on the Dream. DH, DM, DF and I were in a 1 bedroom suite, while DD, DSIL, DB and DN were on the 9th floor. My DH tolerates my cruise habit but isn't into a lot of crowds and chaos. So the benefits for us were:

1) the tub (oh wait, that was just me!)
2) concierge lounge with great coffee maker for DH, DM, DF who all like a good cup (or two or three) of coffee
3) concierge lounge with pre dinner drinks for DF and DH
4) concierge lounge with popcorn and drinks prior to Star Wars movie watching (I'm pretty sure all 4 of us snarfed our body weight in that...)
5) concierge jacuzzi (completely empty on CC day!)
6) lovely large room with plenty of space to entertain DD, DSIL, DB, DN
7) peace and quiet on a completely full ship
8) assistance of concierge with scheduling a couple of events (Princess/Frozen meet and greets I believe)

None of these things are worth the price for many...but if my DH is happy and we can continue to cruise because he is happy...then for me it's priceless.

We were able to dine together-reservations were linked, and my DD was able to board with us in Group 1 (don't know if that's usual or not but was appreciated...didn't really want to sit in the cruise terminal for 3 hrs waiting for the other 3-but was prepared to!).

Just curious if concierge level travellers bring their family members booked on non-concierge levels to the lounge or sundeck? They wouldn't be able to get into the lounge or Sundeck without the card but could have an escort. Just wondering if anyone has ever seen that and how the concierge host or Hostess handled it. I wouldn't be surprised if it's happened more than once.

If say there are five people, four are concierge and one isn't, they wouldn't mind, but say if one family of four, takes another of four, thry will object. It's down to what is reasonable. We have been encouraged to bring friends to concierge parties.

The concierge jacuzzi is on the concierge sundeck-at least on the Dream.

TomJude- The only time any member my non CL family was in any of the concierge spaces was when we checked in and DD was with us. The hosts were very nice to her and just chatted with her (we'd sailed with them earlier in the year so remembered her I suppose). I'm pretty sure I explained that the rest of her cabin wasn't there yet and they assured me her being in for the initial sit down wasn't a big deal.

Other than that, I didn't want to put the CMs in an uncomfortable position so they weren't in the lounge or sundeck any other time.
