Cruisin' With Mickey-Our WONDERful April Fool's Cruise April 1st - 4th, 2010

Great report. Thank you so much for posting a pic of the HD store in Nassau. That just might seal the deal of getting my friends to join us next summer on the Dream.

Thanks again to everyone enjoying my trip report. :goodvibes

Stitchy626 - I know what you mean, that is the hi-lite of the cruise for my DH! :lmao:

Day 3 continued:

Tonight our dinner rotation was Animator’s Palate. We enjoyed our meal very much. Our favorites were the Creamy Butternut Squash Soup, Beef Tenderloin, Penne Pasta and Chocolate Cake. We enjoyed watching the restaurant change from black and white to color!

After dinner the head chef and all of the servers were brought out and announced. They went around the restaurant as each of their tables
cheered them on.

After dinner we went back to the cabin to finish tagging our luggage and set it outside the door before the 11pm deadline. Then we went to watch the family Karaoke in Studio Sea. We stopped by the re-booking desk and spoke to Leslie to get a few quotes for our next cruise. Finally it was time to go to the Til’ We Meet again in the atrium. Such a cute little show but reminds us all that this is the end of our fantastic cruise.

Day 4 - Easter 4/4/10

Woke up this morning, (no room service allowed on the last day, bummer!) so DH and I make our way up to Deck 9 for coffee to bring back to the cabin while we get ready. We then head up to Animator’s Palate for our last breakfast on board. We gave out our tips and said good-bye to our wait staff and they were really fabulous this cruise. We then went to see Leslie to re-book our next cruise! Woo-Hoo! Gives us something to look forward to, only 16 months away! :rolleyes1
We head over to Shutters to pick out any remaining photos and then off
the ship we go.
See ya real soon Mickey! (Really soon because we are on our way to The Contemporary for Easter Brunch at Chef Mickey's!)

We arrive at Chef Mickey's, check-in and were seated within minutes. Of course we are all absolutely starving because we just ate two hours ago! :lmao:

After a delicious filling brunch, we went through some of the gift shops at the Contemporary, played some games in the Arcade and then we head for home. A WONDERFUL trip and a great vacation!
Can't wait for the next one on the DREAM!!:thumbsup2

great trip report! It seemed like I was reliving it all over again. Your descriptions were so vivid. Loved it.

Awesome trip report! Thanks for posting it! It sure was a great cruise, wasn't it! :lovestruc We had smooth sailing and the best weather! It was wonderful meeting you and all the other DISers. :goodvibes Can't believe it was only 3 weeks ago - I'm ready to go back!!! ;)

Wonderful trip report! We feel the same about Nassau. Love getting off there, and never bothered by anyone. The locals are just trying to make a living...and seriously, how difficult it must be for them to see us all getting off those big, beautiful ships day in and day out.

Glad you had a super cruise! And how awesome you are booked for the Dream!

Deweysgirl,
Love the TR report!! I'm curious if the girls ever participated in any of the teen activities? I have a13 and a 14yr old going next month with me and am curious if your girls enjoyed them.

Thanks ppiew! We had such a wonderful cruise! We sure fit a lot into a little bit of time but was really worth it and the DISers on our cruise were the best!

I know Deb, only 3 weeks! I'm so ready to cruise again too! Just glad our next cruise is a 5 nighter! Your b2b will be a blast! Keep us posted on your next cruise too, would love to hear all about it! :thumbsup2

Hi Orlandoprincess! Sorry to say because we had such a short cruise our girls did not go to the teen club. On previous cruises they did choose a few activities to attend from looking at the Navigator and they have always been happy with the club/lab. Hope you all enjoy your cruise! There is so much to do they will never be bored, that's for sure! ;)

Thanks again to all who enjoyed reading my TR! :goodvibes

I loved your TR!! After reading your trip report, I am even more excited for our upcoming cruise (Wonder 20-23 May)! I felt as if I were there with you. Great job! Did you just do your own thing at each port or did you purchase excursions?

Fabulous trip report!
Love the pirate costumes the girls were wearing. Did you make or buy them?

This time we just did our own thing. In the past we have done different excursions in Nassau. We have done the City tour and also Greycliff. Last cruise we reserved a Comfort Inn room so we could do Atlantis for the day. (So much cheaper then Disney's excursion!) :thumbsup2

Thanks! I bought the costumes...I am somewhat challenged when it comes to making anything so I had to buy them. ;)

Loved your TR, and love the pirates costumes in your siggie -- is that what you wore for Pirate night?

Also, I enjoyed seeing the pics of your girls. They seem to really get along well. How sweet!

Enjoyed your report. we are going on our 1st cruise in Aug we want to do what you did ~ walk around and shop maybe do the pirate museum. How can we do this?? We have 3 boys (9,6,6). Also Where can I buy a FE??

The pirate costumes we wore were about the same, but had to modify a little because the girls have grown some since our siggie pic was taken. They actually do get along very well! (Most of the time ;)) Glad you enjoyed my TR! :goodvibes

The pirate museum is fun and my kids really got a charge out of it when we were there last. pirate: It's an easy walk from the ship...it's behind the straw market on George St. I think your kids at their ages now would really enjoy it too! :thumbsup2 I bought my FE on Ebay. Just do a search for Fish Extender. Have a wonderful cruise!

Hi! Thank you so much for your TR.... we're taking our first cruise for 4nts on the Dream next August, and just cannot wait!

I have a question for you re: your Atlantis/Comfort Inn excursion in Nassau. We would like to do the same thing, having heard how great it is to do Atlantis this way compared to Disney's pricing. ()

Did you find it difficult to do, as in getting to the CI and getting back to the ship? Did anyone else from the ship do the same thing? We've heard it can be tough to get a taxi, etc., once you're off the ship if you're not with a dedicated group or excursion.

Do you mind sharing a few of the details of how you did it, how it worked out and anything you learned from it that might help??

Thanks so much, and thanks for getting me so excited for our first cruise!! (Great costumes, btw... can't wait to get ours out! :))

Hi! It is super easy to get a taxi once you are off the ship. When you debark you walk down to the end of the pier and there are a ton of taxis and vans waiting there to take people over to Atlantis/Comfort. Tell the driver you want to be dropped off at Comfort. The price is 4.00 per person and then 1.00 to pay the toll to cross the bridge over to Atlantis. It is less than a 5 minute taxi ride. Once there we went into the lobby and checked in and checked out because we didn't even want the room, just the armbands you will get for Atlantis. I know some people do go back to the room to shower, etc. but for us we didn't. It is a short walk from Comfort to Atlantis and then once there they will check your armbands, give you towels and then you are all set. We picked out some chairs and did the waterpark all day. It was a lot of fun, there is so much to do, there are tons of slides and a lazy river, it is a full day. When it's time to go back to the ship the taxis are waiting outside of the Atlantis lobby and will take you back to the ship. Again 4.00 per person to get back. The food is a little pricey so be prepared to pay 50.00 or so (hamburgers and fries) for a family of four for lunch. I've heard that some people bring sandwhiches, chips etc. in their beach bag from the ship to save money on buying the food at Atlantis. I booked our room for Comfort online and found a cheap deal through Travelzoo dot com. Sign up for their weekly travel deals newsletter, a lot of times they will post special rates for the Comfort Inn the closer you get to your sail date. I think we paid around 120.00 for the room. I hope this helps! Have a wonderful cruise! :goodvibes

We just booked our first disney cruise for November. Love your trip report, so glad you posted this! I had looked at the limited room service breakfast menu and assumed I wouldn't bother using it, but I hadn't thought of getting juice and coffee before going for breakfast! Great idea.

Also my husband had agreed to doing the DCL 3 night, but he wasn't overly enthused. After seeing the picture of the Nassau Harley Davidson his attitude has changed (he owns a dealership here in Canada). I guess he now feels that there is something here for him:rotfl:
