Hi! I am trying to convince my husband to do a Disney/Disney Cruise trip and also run the Princess 10K in February 2017. He is really hung up on the cost of a Disney Cruise and so I'm trying to convince him. We would either be doing a 3 or 4 day cruise. Which ships do you recommend? Also, will it be warm enough to swim on the ship and/or at the two stops? We will have a 4 and 6 year old. Thanks!

Ship yes and Castaway it depends. We are from Florida so usually think that Castaway water is pretty cold except for the summer months. This year it has been really warm down here and we just went to Castaway a few weeks ago and my daughter swam and I got in about waist deep. (something I do not normally do until at least May)

If money allows, then I would always recommend the 4 day over the 3 day but if you just want to get a sample of Disney cruising then try the 3 day. You would have the options of the Dream or the Magic. Both are great ships. Dream is newer and bigger but has double the people. Both have great pools and kid areas.

We did a February Bahamas Cruise in 2014 and the water at Castaway Cay was warm enough to swim in (for us anyway). I think it also depends on where you're from. I have friends from Trinidad who think 70 something degree water is cold as ice but being from a colder climate, I think it's just fine.

ETA: We're doing another Bahamas Cruise this month so I'm glad to hear it's been warm down there lately :)

Thanks so much, I was just looking and it looks like the 3 day is on the Wonder. Does this have a water slide on it? It is $1000 cheaper to go on the 3 day vs. the 4 day for the 4 of us, and I don't know if I can stomach that much of an increase in price. How does the Wonder compare to the Dream? Thanks!

Currently, the only water slide on the Wonder is a kid's slide at the Mickey Pool. The Dream has AquaDuck.

Personally, I prefer the smaller Magic class ships over the larger Dream class ships.
