Hi, We are coming in to Orlando Airport for a disney cruise, the Fantasy and want to know if anyone has taken a renta car from airport to the port? If so, which one and is it better than doin teh transfers?

Thanks,
lynn

We've used Avis in the past. I don't know how many people you have but it may work out cheaper than Disney transfers. Other than cost, do you have a reason to drive?

I haven't driven from MCO to port but I have driven from my WDW resort in the past. It's an easy drive.
What company you use to rent a car will depend on how you handle the car situation once you get to port. Will you be leaving it in the garage/lot while you cruise? Or, will you return it to the rental company and rerent when you disembark?
If you return the car, you want to use a company that runs a shuttle to and from the ship. I know Budget runs many shuttles....they always seem to be at the ship!!

I would run figures to decide which way is better...keeping the car and paying for parking, returning the car and rerenting, or just taking DCL transfer bus.
Usually? It's cheapest to rent a car, return it while you're on the ship and shuttle back to rerent the car after the cruise. But, I have found that sometimes, it's almost as cheap to keep the car, park it across from the ship, and just hop in and leave after the cruise. It was worth the addlt $25 to keep the car and not have to shuttle back and forth.

Hi Lynn
It is better than doing the transfer because a trans will cost $79 rt per person where as a rental will cost less than $40 each way!

We rented from Budget at MCO and dropped it off at the Budget off at the port. Budget has 3 free shuttle vans that will take you to the ship. When you gat to the ship the Budget driver will show you where to meet him when the ship returns.

We did this and it was easy. The drive is straight forward and the car plus gas was just under $40 each way. Plus if you want to stop at a grocery store you can. There is a Publix not far from the Budget rental office at the port. We stopped to get bottle water and ginger ale in case we got motion sickness.
