I know that this has been brought up in the past, but I cant seem to find it! I just got via FEDEX, my cruise voucher on Friday! :cool1: I possibly want to take 3 kids, they would be 9, 3, 2 at the time of travel... has anyone upgraded and how much did it cost? Any help would be great! TIA

The general answer is $175pp to upgrade plus the cost of the fifth person (for a seven night cruise--less for 3 or 4 nights.) Since your fifth person is 2yrs old, the extra person fee is nominal. In 2009 two and under is free, just port charges and taxes. I believe there is a fee in 2010 but not as much as a child rate.

We were in the same boat. (Pun intended ;)) It cost us $931 to upgrade to a Cat4 and bring our fifth person (baby.) Our cruise is Sept 12th!

The other unknown/surprise was that voucher people are automatically assigned GTY and late dining. At first I thought this was a big problem. I got used to the idea of late dining (we did put in a request to waitlist for main though.) Late has it's advantages too. We did ultimately get main dining though.

Have a great trip!

Is that for the 7 night cruise? I have the 4 night cruise!

Thanks for asking this question, Arthur06. I just booked a 3-night incentive cruise for Nov 2010, and now am wondering if I should've upgraded. I'm fine with 2nd seating (in fact, I was asked, and I chose it), but is "GTY" just guaranteed? Or is that the category where you've got a spot but not a guaranteed stateroom until you check in?

Also, I was surfing the DCL boards and saw that you can sometimes upgrade, at a discount, at the port when upgrades are available. We sailed Feb09 on points in adjoining verandah rooms with my DSis and family, but this time we'll be alone, and thought we might just try the oceanview, but now I'm reconsidering if it's only $175pp for the 7-day to get from oceanview to Cat 4....

I'll be interested to see what other posts show up.

Cheers,

Cheers,

I didn't ask about the upgrade price on my Nov. 2010 3 day either. I'm curious what the cost is. It might be worth it...and if nothing else, at least it is a totally "free" cruise! Including gratuities. :thumbsup2 I was excited because we were able to book the 3 night for Thanksgiving week. I was sure it would be blacked out. Nope!

I'm okay with oceanview, anyway. As long as I am on the ship again!

We upgraded our 4 night for $100 per person, but it is a cat. 6 not a 4. I believe the 3 night is $75 per person. As for the GTY, you'll be assigned stateroom number around 30 days before your cruise.

We are acutally leaving next week for the 3 night cruise! I asked about upgrading for our family of four and it was about $350 for a room with a veranda. They actually gave us a stateroom # the day I booked and I also had the choice of main or late dining, so it was not automatic for us as a previous poster mentioned.

I will check about additioal upgrades at port so I will come back and let you know.

We're on the Thanksgiving Week 2010 3-day, too! I expected it to be blacked out, too, but then I first thought we might actually be able to sail Th-Sun like the usual 3-days, but they swap them that week of course. How old is/are your kid/s? We're hoping to head to VB for the rest of the week after the cruise - never been there.

BTW - I love your quote! "The Princess Bride" is one of my all-time favorite movies (did I just say that about a non-Disney movie?? Oops!). :thumbsup2

Your vow renewal at CC sounds wonderful; I'm hoping for Ko Olina to open soon enough for our 25th in 2011....

Thanks for the clarification, especially about GTY. :flower3:

I called today and can this be right???

I asked about 2 dates 12/5/10 and 12/12/10...

If I go on 12/5 my DS9 will not be able to go (he is at his mom's that week)... and If I go 12/12 he can go.. (if his mom will let him leave the country)... but when I called it was $100 per person to upgrade to a cat 4, plus $48 for the 5th person...

Would it really only be $548 (plus whatever taxes) to bring the 5th AND upgrade to a cat4?

What a good idea to go to Vero! I *think* we'll be staying at WDW before the cruise. Nothing set yet. Our original plan was to just resort stay at AKV Thanksgiving week and not do parks.

My DD is 12 and DS is 9 - so we should start our Meets thread for November 2010!! I finally got my DD to watch "The Princess Bride" recently- she loved it.

I'm hoping Ko Olina is not so points heavy that we can afford to go in 2011 too!

It sounds right. We were quoted about $300 (+tax) to upgrade for a family of four and this was for a verandha (not 100% on the catagory). This was back in early June when I made the ressie for next week.

Just a quick follow up to the orginal question....

Our cruise was Sept 10th -13th, (just got home last night) we were orginally booked in a cat 9 room on the 2nd deck. We were pleasantly suprised when we went to check in and the CM asked if we knew our room changed, we had no idea. Our new stateroom was a cat 5 on deck 7 with a verandah!!!! :cheer2: Didn't expect this at all since this was our incentive cruise.....so glad I didn't pay!! I knew others who cruised that paid cash and they didn't get upgraded. I guess we will never know why we got the upgrade....

What a fun time it was!!!
