has anyone booked a night at comfort suites to use atlantis instead of paying for the excursion? was it worth it? it looks like i can save $218 for a fmaily of 4-any comments?
I haven't, but when we went on a cruise to the bahamas several passengers did. I thinks it is a good idea if you will have the time to take advantage of it. Our ship was only in port about six to eight hours, so by the time we got off the ship, waited for the official excursion and then returned an hour before the ship sailed, we literally had time to take the guided tour, run through the gift shop and then run back to the boat to make it back to the ship. Not worth the money we paid for the excursion. If you don't have much time there will always be plenty of cabs waiting around the dock to take people to paradise island.
All that being said, Atlantis is beautiful and the short time we spent there makes up want to book a vacation for the whole family.
We did the Atlantis excursion when we were on the Disney cruise a few years ago. It included lunch (which was ok), the Dig (which we loved) and time at a beach that looks like an armpit compared to the one that regular Atlantis guests get to use. It is all the way across the resort and DH, the kids and me passed the beautiful pools and water slides that we WERE NOT entitled to use. Totally felt like second class citizens. If we ever go again, I would not think twice about doing the Comfort Suites thing. My kids were little and just could not wrap their heads around the fact that we could not use the slides. Even though we explained, I know in their little heads they felt we were full of beans!!! We never even spent time at the beach- we spent extra time at the Dig.
I would triple love to go back to the Atlantis someday as a regular guest!
Yes, and it saved so much money! We took a taxi from the port, checked in, and never saw the room. We didn't check out until we were leaving, just in case we wanted to use the room.
We did. We got a great deal I think it was $160. Anyway, we checked in and checked out at the same time so we did not have to go back. Walked through the hotel and out the back door to the Atlantis. Spent the day at the Atlantis (which the kids LOVED). It was a great way to save $$.
If you can get a good rate on the hotel room at Comfort Suites, it is 100% worth it!
Atlantis entrance fees - either with the resort OR from your cruise ship, are exorbitant. It would have cost $440 for my family through the cruise ship, but only $189 at Comfort Suites. That's smart shopping.
