cruise booked with points

I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I booked an Alaskan cruise for May 2011 with points. We are having some financial difficulty right now and might not be able to go. Can we rent out our cruise to someone else? I know it is done with the resorts but can it be done with a cruise that's already booked?
and if not and we have to cancel, what happens to those pts we used. we had to bank and borrow for this cruise.

No you can not "rent" the cruise as the first person on the reservation can not be changed and has to remain the same. If you cancel, your points will become "reservation points" which can only be used at WDW resorts, NOT DVC, concierge collection, and the adventure collection. They will expire at the end of your use year if you do not use them.
