We only have 2 days we can go to USO this year, the 27th and the 3rd of October. I checked for the cheapest prices and realized that those are HHN nights....so paying 500.00 for our family of 7 to have the park till 5pm, that's crud. Why can't they offer a discounted ticket on HHN's for those families that just want a day at USO and not participating in HHN's.

Oh well, I suppose I'll keep checking for a cheaper ticket option. Any suggestions?

They have to close at 5pm in order to prepare for each night of HHN. If you get there early, you should be able to do most everything you want as the day crowds aren't bad until afternoon and IOA is open until 7pm. Unless you have an AP or are a FL resident, I don't know of any cheaper tickets for day time.

In the past, during the times we've gone, the parks closed at 6pm. Still plenty of time to get things done. Of course, we were on site w/FOTL. If you are on site, you should be fine. If not, go early as Metro suggested. You'll have a great time no matter what!

We usually go in March and the parks close around 6-7 pm those nights, but we're looooooooooooong gone before then (even without express passes)

Yea, but that means no fireworks...etc? We've not been in years (well 2 or 3?) and we always closed the parks LOL Paying that much for tickets, we like to stroll, shop, eat, ride everything....etc and would hate to leave by 5pm. That's a lot of money for a family of 7. Oh well, maybe next year we'll leave our schedule a bit more open and we can go on a day that HHN isn't going to happen...that way we can stay till park closing :)

fireworks end in early august.
this year due to the construction, fw were replaced by the 360 globes.

ioa will be open to 6 on those nights.

also for an additional ten or so, you can do ioa until 7 pm.

once summer is over, the parks never stay open past 6 or 7pm

go when the park opens, in fact go before the park opens and you can start on the ioa side with the coasters around 8:30ish.

you will have time to do the highlights of both parks if you start early and finish up over at ioa for that last hour. (6:00)

if you look at the calendar, the parks do not have late hours prior and after the hard ticket even/ hhn closes down.

to your question of getting discounts on hhn nights for the day park time, i doubt that would ever happen. tickets are cheap now.

as it is now with the promos, a 2 park 7 day ticket is cheaper than one BASE ticket at disney.

i just bought a one day base ticket for the motherland.
i was taken back at it's cost.

Well the regular closing hours are 6:00 PM even without HHN. So it's only closing an hour earlier for HHN. There are no fireworks, etc. during the non-peak season so they wouldn't have had it even if there wasn't HHN. You can cross over to IOA which will more than make up for the hour you lost.

ETA: Just realized that Macraven had already said this.

Ok the parks close early. Does anyone know? Are there fun things to do in the evening with young children on site or close by?

If you are staying onsite there are nights that the pools have the Dive in movies, and every night the hotels do something. If you aren't staying onsite, go to the Hard Rock Cafe, or Margaritaville and hang out. We do that at night and will be doing that during HHN since our children are too young to go to HHN. There is plenty to do at CityWalk.

I feel your pain. We have Premiere passes, so our FOTL doesn't start until 4 p.m. no matter what the closing time is. I wish they would adjust that seasonally. It's great in the summer but merely okay when the closing time is 6, or heaven forbid, 5!
