CRT and the dining plan

I feel like I'm missing something. I often see people say that, when on the DP, they prefer to pay for CRT out of pocket, with it being 2 credits and whatnot... which seems reasonable on the surface, but when you start thinking about it...

We're doing a split stay. First leg is checking in Sunday, check out Tuesday - so, 2 nights. If we were to book CRT, that would use all of our TS credits. BUT - the DP for these days would be comparable (actually less than, I think?) to the price of just the CRT meal. And we'd have QS credits to use for other meals, and snacks. So it seems to make sense. What am I missing? Or is it just that this is such a short (piece of the) trip, and it would be different for a longer trip when we might want to use the TS credits for seperate meals?

In general CRT is not a great use of TS credits - same with Hoop Dee Doo. A TS credit has an approximate value of $45 - so if you want to get your money's worth you would need the value of a 2TS meal to come out around $90 per person. Neither CRT nor Hoop Dee Doo hit that mark, so from a $$ perspective you can get a better value out of paying OOP for those and using TS credits for something else. But if you're not concerned with the dollar value and just want to have a dining experience you wouldn't normally opt for, then the best use of your TS credits are the ones that you will get a positive experience out of.

Thank you! Yes, I thought about this and when looked online saw CRT as $89.99/adult for lunch or dinner, which is what got me thinking about this (as = 2 $45 TSs) to begin with ... maybe that price isn’t quite right, since you said neither CRT nor HDD hit the $90/pp Mark?

Dinner at CRT is $73-ish per adult (slightly more during peak periods), not $90. I actually just did a mock reservation for two adults at 8:30pm tonight, and the total would have been $163 and change.

Ah! That’s the difference then! So helpful, thank you.
