This may be old news, but I just got this in an e-mail newsletter from Disney:

California Grill at Disney's Contemporary Resort
Changes Check-In Process

California Grill now provides dining check-in for
guests at a podium located on the second
floor of Disney's Contemporary Resort.

Guests with Priority Seating or those wishing to enjoy
the California Grill lounge, will be escorted by a
California Grill Cast Member in an elevator exclusively
reserved for California Grill diners.

The relocation of the California Grill podium will allow
guests dining at the restaurant to experience a unique
greeting and a gracious sense of arrival as well as
retain the terrace area and Magic Kingdom fireworks
viewing exclusively for guests of the restaurant.

I was overjoyed when I learned about this new policy, after making a PS for our dinner in Aug. We love CG & I've become increasingly unhappy with the chaos created at the restaurant as non-diners try to access the resturant for the view of the fireworks. CG is a great, up-scale restaurant, but the non-diners take away from the atmosphere. During our last trip, we ate there twice: once coordinated w/ the fireworks & once not coordinated w/ the fireworks (because we really enjoy the food). We were shocked at how the atmosphere improved at the non coordinated dinner. I can't wait to see if there is the same improved atmosphere in Aug., due to the new check-in policy.
