How crowded is it the first weekend in Oct? We've been in both mid to late OCt and Nov and well as-- our favorite-- Jan. How busy is it this early in the month? Thnaks.

My son and I will be there October 1 (thinking of changing that to Sept. 30) until October 5; his 14th birthday.

I'm hoping the crowds will be low so that we can have a relaxing trip.

I'm wondering the same thing. We went the first week of October in 2002 and the parks were so quiet. I'm hoping it's the same this year. Does anyone know? :wave2:

pirate: We went the first week in October last year. We had no problems at all. The MK was a little crowded on the weekend evenings. This year we are going back October 8th to the 15th.

I think it'll be a bit more crowded then we are used to due to Columbus Day, some school's fall break, last year's bad hurricane season, and the attraction of the "happiest celebration on Earth". We're still going! See you there! Hoping for AP discounts....

We have been there the first week in October for the past few years because of my dd's fall break, and the crowds are not bad. We have waited maybe 15 minutes for a popular ride at the most. Crowds are usually heavier at the end of the week due to Columbus Day weekend, but we have found it to be an enjoyable time to go.

What Jillybeanjo said. We go every year during the first week of October and the crowds are very manageable. It does get worse closer to Columbus day and EPCOT is very crowded on Columbus weekend, due to Food and Wine I'd guess. The one exception to this is when we went on a family trip in 2003 during Columbus day week. That year, Columbus day week was much more crowded than the first week in October has ever been.

We'll be there again this year, Oct 3 - 10 (Me, DH, DD6), and we will continue to go this week as long as DD does well in school and can afford to take the time off.

We were a little nervous about going in October after having been the week after Thanksgiving. We were worried about bigger crowds, heat, etc... We went Oct. 2-9 last fall and it was perfect!!! We were in the MK by 1pm the Saturday we arrived. We were amazed at how much we were able to do when we were just getting there at the time most people on these boards advise going back to the room to avoid the crowds. It wasn't empty, and we did use FastPass some, but we did everything in Tomorrowland, ToonTown, and Fantasyland that afternoon. Then, we saw Spectromagic and Wishes that night. It was awesome. By Monday morning, there were even fewer people. We never waited in line more than 10-15 minutes for anything in any park. We didn't even need FastPass most of the time. Crowds did pick up by Thursday of that week before Columbus Day weekend. We had "done" the parks by then, and just used that last bit to rest and do water parks.

We aren't going to be able to go back this year. :-( But we do plan to go during Oct next year! It works well to go during our school's fall break.

I was there last year from Sept 29-Oct 8 and it wasn't bad at all. As it got closer to Columbus day weekend we did notice an increase in people though...nothing bad. It was fabulous I think we had one minor sprinkle of rain that lasted maybe 10 minutes! The weather was fairly warm mid to low 90s at the start of our trip.

Do they show Wishes and Spectromagic each night during that week?

Are both water parks open then?

Anyone recall park hours during that time?
