How are the crowds during this time at Universal? This would be our 1st Universal trip. We have many Disney trips under our belt. Disney I know is lower crowds during this time.
Generally very low..HOWEVER , the new Harry Potter area is opening this summer and that could very well drive crowd levels up for a long while, even at traditionally lower times. At this point no one knows what to expect .I know I am going in November ( another slow time) and I am going expecting larger than usual crowds
Currently over at Islands of Adventure is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter -Hogsmeade. It has the Hogwarts castle with the signature ride Forbidden Journey within it.It also has the 3 Broomsticks eatery, Hogshead tavern , various stores, Ollivanders wand shop show, Dragon challenge ( intense roller coaster ) and Flight of the Hippogriff( a benign roller coaster)...
Over at Universal Studios Park , Harry Potters London, specifically Diagon Alley will be opening this summer .( it is in the area formerly occupied by JAWS and Amity ).It will contain The Hogwarts express train ( this will be a ride /experience that ultimately will connect to Hogsmeade over in IOA .A PARK TO PARK ticket will be required to ride it).It will contain the Gringotts Bank Vault ride ( the signature ride for this area) as well as another Ollivanders, Leaky Cauldron rstaurant and various other shops.
Given the extreme popularity of the exisiting Wizading World of Harry Potter and overall traffic over at IOA, this will balance out the crowds pretty well between the 2 parks, however for several months after its opening, it will mean larger crowds for awhile.
