Hi All,

A couple girlfriends and I are going to DL sept 30 - oct 2. We found out this is the beginning of the Halloween parties and the weekend is gay days at the park. I have been during Bat days, and did not find it very crowded. How crowded do you think it will be with the Halloween parties and gay days events? Mostly locals?

Thanks, fellow mouse lover...

It's a weekend, so it will automatically be more crowded than earlier weekdays. Then add to that the fact that Mickey's Halloween Party starts on 9/30, and that will attract more people. The 'first' day of anything, such as Halloween Time season, Mickey's Halloween party or the holiday season, will always bring out lots of guests, just for novelty's sake.

Then you have Gay Days. I've had one trip to DLR that happened to fall on the Gay Days weekend, but this was in 2008. I was there from a Thursday night to Sunday. I don't know if anything has changed in the last couple of years, but what I observed was that Thursday was very crowded in Downtown Disney. It was so busy it looked like it might as well have been a Saturday night. On Friday, in the daytime, DCA was okay, Disneyland was a little more crowded, and the Halloween party on Friday night was really busy & crowded, as I would have expected a Friday night party to be.

However, I didn't notice any extra increase in crowds inside Disneyland (other than what would normally be there) until Saturday night, really. That's when it seemed like a lot of the convention attendees (and maybe attendees of other conventions as well?) showed up. Suddenly the line for Haunted Mansion Holiday was at the 45-minute mark, whereas it had not been up to that point.

Keep in mind when packing, that the participants of Gay Days will be wearing our "Red Shirts". If you don't want to be associated with the group, you might want to avoid wearing red. Although, I've heard that "uninformed people" have been given free "non-red" shirts at WDW (I'm not sure if they would do that at DL).
