We were already planning a trip to DLR. Disney just announced the opening of the Frozen Musical on 5/27. As it's also a holiday weekend, we were planning on avoiding that day. My girls love Frozen & would be ecstatic to see the show. Would it be worth extending our trip to see it? Would crowds be overwhelming on opening day? Huge crowds ruins the "magic" - at least for my hubby.

anyone been to DLR on Friday before Memorial weekend? How are the crowds?

Fridays in general are pretty busy. New things at DLR tends to bring out even more crowds.

If your husband has an issue with crowds, I'd wait and catch the show another time.

There is a possibility that day will be a 24 hour event as it's been the last three years...certainly something to keep a lookout for.

It's a little hard to say at this point what the Friday before Memorial Day will be like this year. For the last few years, they've had the 24-hour day on that Friday. In 2014, the crowds weren't really that bad; about on par with what one would expect on a Friday of a holiday weekend. Last year (2015) they debuted three new shows and kicked off the 60th Anniversary Celebration so the crowds were far higher than in previous years.

My guess is that opening day of the new Frozen show will be busy at the Hyperion regardless of crowds in the rest of the park. There seems to be a fair number of people that like to see things the day they open, so I expect that all of the shows that day will be at capacity.
