Crowds in May

Does anyone know what the crowds are like in May, and what kind of lines should I expect at the parks. This is the first time we will be going during this time. Also what is the weather like. Thanks in advanced.

We've gone the last two years in May and the crowds have always been good. We love going this time of year. It is before all the kids get out of school and after the spring break season. The weather is generally pretty warm, we've had a couple of very hot days the last few years but they were out of the ordinary. Usually it is 80s and sunny.

We never have had problems with lines at the rides. Using Fast Passes we never really waited more than 10-15 minutes. Sometimes the very popular rides will have waits of 45 minutes, but if you get a FP there is always something without a wait.

We are going again this May, so that is three in a row, four out of five years. So I guess you can say we like that time of year

Hello from the Delta!
We are going in May this year as well. Last year we went the latter part of July, and thought it was actually bearable. I'm hoping as you are for nice crowds (actually nice people ) when we get there. It just worked out for us to go earlier this year, and we are all excited! I'm hoping also for good weather -- not too much rain. See you there!

Yeah May is very nice no crowds at all really. We are going again this year but the week early then the previous. Have fun!!

OOHH OOHH ME ME I went in May!!!!

It was GREAT! Crowds were great. There was enough people to make it festive, yet not so many that we had to wait hours for rides.
I think our average wait was about 30 minutes, but that gave us time to look at all the stuff in the queing areas and talk to other people in line.

I would be going again that time of year, but we promised my youngest DD a birthday trip for her since our last trip we celebrated my oldest DD's birthday there.

You will have a great time in May.

We went last year beginning of May, and because of that we're doing it again this year. Hopefully, it won't be as hot this year. My DW being pregnant last year didn't make it any cooler. We've now been there for the coldest it's ever been in January in '95 and the hottest it's been in May last year.

The crowds were non-existant.

My family will be there May 1-8 this year, and I went last May-- Memorial week, and found it to be bearable the crowds were great, the heat wasn't so awful for us. I'm hoping even less people will be there because schools are not out yet! Peylog

Went last year, the same time we're going this year - first week in May (2nd through 7th).

It was mid-to-high 80's all week, it may even have hit 90 one day - no rain either. Crowds were no problem... had a great time, as it was a first for my 2 DDs!

This is our first trip in May since our honeymoon 12 years ago. I'm a little afraid I'll be spoiled because we went in Dec and it was uncrowded.

We are going the Sunday before Memorial day and leaving the Saturday of Memorial day weekend. Do you think it will be bad? I know probably Friday will be the worst, because of starting the holiday weekend. I am hoping it will be less than we had to deal with than August.

I just noticed today that the MK is open until 11:00 pm on Saturday, May 8. Does this mean they're expecting huge Mother's Day crowds or something special is happening at the park? None of the other parks seem to have late hours.

How hot you think it is may depend on where you are from. I grew up in Louisiana and now live in Houston and I think May is great at Disney World. A friend of mine who has lived his whole life in the northeast thinks May is way too hot. He is used to his hottest summer days being in the 80s.

I have been in August too though and enjoyed it then too--I just planned to leave the parks around lunch and then come back in the evening when it started to cool off a little.

I looked at the park hours posted on the Dis and the hours posted for MK on 5/8/04 are 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Which is normal for a Saturday at MK. Where did you get your park hours from? Sorry I don't know how to post a link but if you go to the DIS homepage and click on park hours you'll get the info.

I love going in May. My DW & I go after Mother's Day and before Memorial Day. Love the Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot. The only time we encountered real crowds was at park opening -- after that it's very manageable. Short lines (if any) on practically all the rides. In most cases, FastPass was closed. We make PS for some meals, mostly for more popular restaurants. But in some cases we just walk in and the wait is not too bad. You'll have a great time!

Hadn't checked in awhile and did not realize they increased MK hours. Likely indicates they will have increased attendance, but can't believe it will to too crowded, given the time of year. We arrive 2 weeks from today!! Love going this time of year.

Maybe they increased hours on May 8th because there will be no early entry on Sunday (Mothers Day). I hope the crowds aren't huge, we planned a May trip because we thought attendance woiuld be lower than summer months.
