Crowds in May

I'm planning a trip for May and wanted to know how the crowds are. Better in the begining of the month, middle or end? I'm very flexible with dates. Are there any events going on,or spring breaks to worry about. I assume the weather will be fine. Thanks for any imput

Hi,

Crowds are pretty light through most of the month, but they do get a little heavier at the end of the month due to Memorial Day and also the end of the school year.

If you go before the 20th crowds should be quite manageable.

We went this past May, the 2nd week. It was great! The flower and garden festival is going on at Epcot which makes the park look so beautiful. The weather is warm but not unbearable and the crowds are moderate to low. We were able to walk on alot of rides and even got to ride some multiple times in a row at the MK one night! Spring breaks are usually over by then, but the end of the month does get more crowded with schools getting out and the holiday. It is our 2nd favorite time of year to go!

We always go mid May and it's fabulous! We went a little later this past May and left the Wednesday before Memorial Day and it was still great! It's a wonderful time to go!

What about the Love Bugs this time of year? 2nd week in May.

we went late April, first week of May this year and the crowds were medium for the most part. Of course the weekends at MK were nasty, but for the most part they were fine. The night EMH made MK MUCH more manageable, as most of the crowds cleared out by 10PM.


I will say one thing---the weather this time of year is EXCELLENT. Basically 10 STRAIGHT days of sunny weather, mid-to-high 80's everyday.

We really didn't see too many love bugs. Maybe a couple here and there but not even noticable. And believe me we would've noticed because DD has a huge bug phobia and she would've been freaking out if they were all over!

my dd is giving me headaches about not wanting to go again, if she found out about the bugs that would be it!
she is a teen now and would rather stay home with her friends. I told her that would change when she is a mom and begging me to take them......LOL

I went May 1-4, and I thought crowds were really light. Weather was terrific, a little cool at night and warm days. They we went back May 13-18 and thought the crowds were light then too. The only crowds we really saw were in MK in the evening after a 10-5 rain. So we hopped on over to Epcot and it was fine.
Last year we went May 9-13 and it was perfect. Low crowds and great weather. So, May is my new favorite month.

We went 2 years ago, May 1-10 and it was great. Know crowds at all and the weather was beautiful. We go again, May 12-19, 2007. We are expecting it to be about the same and very excited to go.

This year, we went the 2nd week of May.
In 2005 & 2004, we went the 1st week of May.

The first week was less crowded than the 2nd week.
I'd never seen any lovebugs until our trip this May, but I only saw them at the pool at CBR....and there were a TON of them!

BTW....let's not word get out about how great the 1st week of May is or then EVERYONE will want to go then.

WE'VE been twice in May, once was over Mother's Day weekend, the other time was a week just after Mother's day. Crowd levels were really manageable both times, and the first time was in 1997, before AK and waaaay before fast pass. I remember Mother's day weekend was busier, but weekends are always busier, IMO. I agree with just about everyone else about the weather though- it was great!

I am going 11th-25th with my DM.Really looking forward to it as we will be there for mothers day.
We have always gone in june /july when it is wall to wall people and very humid.
Does it rain a little less in may? this june we had some serious downpours.

so glad to read your post.we are going may 12-19.did u do ropedrop in the mornings? walking onto rides would be a dream .I am using tour guide mikes just to try and be in the least crowded spots. I often wonder if I picked a good time to go. Haven't been in 11 years. Planning for two families.

Does it rain a little less in may? this june we had some serious downpours.

We were there the 2nd week of May this past year, for 7 nights. It only rained 1 time. It was a heavy rain that lasted about an hour and that was it

I was there the same week as you this year. We stayed at POR tho. I guess I don't know what a love bug looks like. I don't recall seeing any off too many one bug LOL.

We have been there at the end of April, beginning of May a few times and find it fabulous! It is busy but not over the top and the weather is usually great!

I have to admit, we are not morning people at all!! I think if I told DH to wake up on vacation at 7am he'd think I was crazy!LOL We did do it a few years ago and it was great, but when you go in the off seasons you can get lucky with no lines most of the time. We really liked doing the extra magic hours at night. We did that in May and were able to walk on almost everything at MK and Epcot.
