Does anyone have any experience of crowds in the few weeks before xmas? I was considering a mon-thurs trip before the school kids break up, possibly Mon 8th or Mon 15th Dec?
Thanks,
Ruby x

I think xmas gets pretty busy......

But I do know Jan 5th-8th is super cheap, super quiet and still xmas celebrations!

We went the 8th to the 11th Dec last year. The crowds were much busier on the weekend. It was far more pleasant during the week though :thumbsup2

we are going 15/12 and hoping crowds not to big or should we book a club room at NYH ?

Hi jsandwich and welcome to the DIS! :welcome:

You're arriving on 15th which I gather is a Monday? Weekends are manic in December but you should find it much more manageable mid-week. How many days are you staying?

we leave on the 18/12 ,its a treat for dd 2 as she is not allowed to ski with big sis due to a knee injury.

we're also going on the 15th of Dec. it can be very busy but the begiing of the week is ok. last time we went in Dec we spent the weeked there ad it was chaos ::yes::

really looking forward to being there in Dec, my DD2 will be over 2 and if she's as excited as she was in April, we're going to have lots of fun :rotfl:

so.... wud we be better going sunday, monday, tuesday, wednesday, or wednesday, thursday, friday, saturday??? *** i know that sumtimes they dont have all the 'activities' in the week, so want to make sure we get to see everything if we can lol
looking like it will be last week in november of after 6th dec (due to europe celebratin sinterklaas on 4th? dec)

not sure which is best dates to go for???? any advice??
and all these xmas pics are makin me more excited!!

Hi,

Last year, everything was on every day from the beginning of December (all the Christmas shows, all the parades, Fantillusion, Enchanted Candleabration etc).

So if you want to make sure you see everything DLRP Christmas, and you don't want to be battling the crowds, go midweek in December, but before the Christmas holidays begin. So w/c 8th December, midweek, I'd say would be perfect timing.

thanks for the advice everyone ,havent been to DLP since 2000 so I think it will be a little different this time and will have to stop myself comparing it to WDW .Going to give them a ring just now to book, still undecided about the hotel so will see what the prices are like, flight already sorted .
Really looking forward to it and especially the Xmas decorations etc ,just right to put us in the mood before the big day.

I expect you'll notice a big difference since 2000, there's even a second park now!!

We went for Christmas in 2005 and it was truly magical, we even had real snow!! :cold: Just remember not to make comparisons between DLRP and WDW and you will have a wonderful time!! :goodvibes Our next WDW holiday will be over Christmas and although I am looking forward to it, somehow it won't seem right without it being cold and snowing!! ;)

by the sound of the responses to this thread i am glad we have booked to go on 1st dec for 3 nights. Seems like later on in the month will be full of disboarders!!!!!:hyper:

we went 2 years ago midweek at xmas (about the 5th) tue-friday.

the crowds were ok, we had no problems queing for rides (max wait - 25mins)

breakfast (at the santa fe) was a bit hectic though!!

we got in the park at opening time and there was hardly anyone there for the first couple of hours. (don't tell everyone this though as we will be doing the same this year)

We went last year in the first week of December from Monday to Thursday and it was great. It seemed quite busy to me in the parks but the queues were minimal - about 10 minutes at most. Most of the visitors seemed to be families with very young children - I have never seen so many pushchairs. So, the rides outside of Fantasyland were empty a lot of the time, especially the roller coasters. It's a lovely time of year to go. All the parades were on as they started in the week at the beginning of December - even Fantillusion which is fantastic.
