How bad are the crowds in August, I usually go in May and love it. Its been 3 years and Dh has a business trip so we are tagging along. Thanks in advance.
After about August 15, much less busy (as schools go back across the country)... and HOT.
If you are accustomed to May crowds, it will feel busier than you are used to.
If you are in the latter half of August, though, crowds are lighter and touring is more manageable - if you can overcome the drain on your body from the heat.
We have gone the last week and the 2nd week. Last had less crowds, but neither was really what I would call crowded. It was totally do-able. Our new fave time to go, actually
Crowds aren't too bad the last two weeks in Aug. A lot of schools are back in session. If it gets too hot for you, take a break during the day and swim. The park hours are longer, so you can go back for the evening. Have a great trip!!
We went during the third week, just after the Florida kids went back to school. Crowds were low and we rarely saw long waits for anything other than Soarin and TSMM. It rained for about 15 minutes each day at about 3pm and once we got a real heavy downpour late, but if you bring a poncho you should be fine. Take a mid-day break or find mellow rides/attractions between 12-4 and you should have a great time. We love going in late August/Early September. Like others have said be mindful of the heat/humidity if you aren't used to it. Brita bottles for filtering the water are very helpful as are the cooling towels (Frogg Toggs.) Light clothing, sunscreen, hats and sunglasses are essential and you can have a great time.

This was our experience as well...we actually found the 2nd week to be much more tolerable, as far as crowds were concerned, over the 3rd week especially once FD started!
