I was wondering how crowded it is now with the Star Wars weekends? DH and DS really want to go for the last weekend they are offering the Star Wars event. Is it extremely crowded? Will that last weekend be even worse than the previous weekends? Does it affect the other Parks as well? We're pretty "spoiled" when it comes to no crowds since we usually go in off season. TIA

I can't believe DH is actually having to convinve ME to go to WDW!!! This is a first for us!

From what I have read, crowds are worst the first weekend as bigger name stars attend that week. Crowds are huge all weekends, though, as thousands of people come in just for the event. www.allearsnet.com has loads of information about it.

I was there first weekend and can't say it was any worse than a normal May weekend at MGM. I actually saw star tours with NO wait entire weekend. Granted the closer you get to star wars areas the harder is is to move due to chacarter greetings. I saw worst crowds in MK on a Sat. in Feb.

I too was there the opening weekend. I didn't think the crowds were bad at all. It is the most crowded right outside Star Tours. This is where they put on the jedi training and where the parade ends. A few character greetings are around the area too. The only large crowd I saw was waiting to get in the Star Tours store. Line was out the door. Interestingly enough, Star Tours had only a 5 minute wait! Rest of the park seemed almost empty, no crowds at all.

My kids really liked it. They are totally into Star Wars.

This is good news, indeed :) We are going June 11th, so hopefully it won't be too bad.

We were there June 9th last year on the Saturday, and the crowds were no problem. It does get a bit congested in the Star Tours area, of course, especially when Jedi Training and other events like the Star Wars parade (very cool, BTW) are happening, but really no problem at all. MK on a regular old day was much, much more crowded! Go, and have a great time - my Star Wars geek DDs loved it!

We were there last weekend and it was not bad at all. We plan our WDW trips just for SW weekends--my boys are huge fans. They have made some crowd control improvements such as moving a lot of star wars character greetings to the back lot area and increasing the number of kids who are able to participate in jedi training. (I won't tell how they're doing this, because I don't want to spoil the surprise.)

Last year there were no crowds at Star Wars weekend. It wasn't bad at all. Now the MK on the other hand...

qtwns, I'm also from Marietta. We'll be at Star Wars Weekend next weekend. Do you have any tips for us? I have two little ones, oldest at 6 might be interested in the jedi training. We didn't do this last year.

You can pm me, too. Thanks!

Can someone help me out with the parade. Where does it start and end? I read on allears and I didn't understand it because I don't know the locations that were used. Thanks.

We're planning on being at MGM for SW a week from today. SW is the event ds (9) is MOST looking forward to, and this is his first trip to WDW. It would be wonderful if he was selected for jedi training. Any tips on being chosen?

Also, do people dress up for this (not CM, just regular folk)? Ds wants to wear one of his SW costumes. I'm trying to discourage him as I think it will be too hot. Also, some of them are homemade (by him) and a little odd.

Thanks,
Corina

Crowds havebn't been that bad. SWW related events are crowded but other attractions have wait times that are pretty normal. Heck, Star Tours doesn't even have more than a 10 minute wait usually.

The parade starts on Hollywood Blvd. (near guest relations area)then turns left in front of Mickey's hat (on the far side of Echo Lake) and moves toward the Star wars area. We got a great seat on the sidewalk 10 mins. before parade time at the corner of Hollywood and Sunset Blvds.

You do see some kids (and adults) dress up, but most don't. They have amazing face painting of star wars characters that might be more enjoyable then wearing a costume in the heat (around $12 I think) and of course there is plenty of star wars stuff to buy, too.

I was there the first weekend last year and thought it was really crowded. I was standing in line at the store for at least 45 minutes. I am going on Friday and hope it won't be as bad this year.

Can't wait!:D

We went to MGM this evening and it was pretty empty... less than 30 min standby waits at RnR and ToT. The weather may have something to do with it... some thunder and light rain as the evening went on, but nothing too awful.
