My husband and I were talking about planning a trip to WDW in late Feb/early March. I was wondering if anyone knows what the weather and the crowds are like at that time. Being from Canada, you know we want to go when the weather is going to be fairly warm. Any help would be appreciated!!:sunny:

Welcome to the DIS, mulanrouge, and on Canada Day too, perfect timing!! :D

My DH and I went to WDW late Feb/early Mar, two years ago. The weather fluctuated quite a bit, and although I did wear shorts most of the time, I often needed to also wear a light sweater, especially in the mornings. A jacket for the everning.

From one year to the next, it can be very different. I made sure to keep an eye on the Orlando weather forecasts before we left, so I'd know what to expect.

Happy planning! :)

Hi mulanrouge,

We were at WDW two years ago for the first week of March, like Snowwark, and found the temperatures varied quite a bit over the course of the day. By afternoon we were always in shorts though!

The nice part was that the crowds were light and there were almost no lines, especially early in the day. We used Fastpass in the afternoons and had no problems whatsoever. We're going back next March!!

Good luck planning your trip,

Jackie

We've been twice during that time period. This year it was quite nice. Any where from high 60's to over 80 the last few days. There was one day in the middle of the 2 weeks that was COLD...it was 48*...we went to MGM that day, and some people were wearing winter coats. We didnt even stay for Fantasmic...but, the next day was hot enough that we all got burnt by the pool! In 2000, it was 80 every day...that year we didnt wear a sweat shirt even once!
I think the low crowds outweigh the weather for that time of year. We found the crowds reasonable.

We were there at that time this year and the weather was mixed. We swam about half the days , We had some rain, but nothing that kept us out of the parks. We wore shorts somedays and light jackets for others.I thought that it was good.

We started travelling to WDW during the end of Feb about 7 years ago and the one thing you need to keep in mind is President's Week in the states. This is a major holiday and the crowds can really get large. We've since moved our trips to the first week of March. This year we are taking our first trip home to Saratoga Springs (DVC) on the First of March. Our daughter is in Grade 6 and we just pull her out of school early...our preference. As far as the weather goes it can be hit or miss although the last few times it's been really good. Last year was a bit up and down but overall very nice. evenings are cool though so bring warmer clothes (jeans and a jacket is usually okay) Have fun planning!!:teeth:

Thanks all!! That really helps with our decision making. We were going to try and combine it with the teacher's convention and family day (Feb 17th, 18th, and family day on the 21st) so that my son didn't miss as much school, but that run's into President's week. My son will be in Grade 3 so I don't think he will miss too much that we can't help him with during the trip. I think we will look at the first two weeks of March!!:cheer2:

Lisa and I had our honeymoon there for the last few weeks of Feb in 98 and it rained more than it was sunny. We had about 3 days of sunny weather the entire trip but it was warmer than I figured it would be. It was also very crowded as it was over presidents week while we were there.

We traveled to WDW during the first week in March of this year. The weather was great, mid 80's every day and no rain at all.

The crowds were not all that bad and I think you will find it an enjoyable time to go.

:D
