Crowded or not? October 15 - 22 2011

I have booked our trip and we are set to go, but I keep reading conflicting info on crowds during our visit. On the one hand our resort is sold out (POR) and some of the dining I tried to book (Chef Mickey's) is booked solid for the week. However, when I look at the crowd predictors most say on a scale of one to ten we are in the 1, 2 crowd levels. The highest day being a 4. Those things just don't seem to be working together. I know it is just a prediction, but they are good at doing that, I think. Either way we will be there having fun, just maybe waiting in longer lines than two 4 year olds attention spans can handle. It's all good, I just have to worry about something.

Grace, We are going to be there at the same time.. I have been wondering the same thing.. No free dining (black out) and the pin we got for a resort discount was VERY limited availability..

I was told by someone ( I can not for the life of me remember the source) stated that there was an annual convention at going during that week, and that it had a tendancy to fill the resorts....

I am guessing (maybe a stretch) that this would result in full hotels and meal reservations (especially outside of the parks proper) during that time, and lower park attendance..

We went at the same time in 2009.. and the crowds were not bad at all..

I had the same question. We are going from 10/17 to 10/21 and I am praying it won't be too crowded. We will see I guess.

There is a huge IT conference that books up most of the Epcot hotels, so "regular" guests get pushed into other resorts.

There is also the PGA Children's Miracle Network golf tournament during those dates, which also fills up the hotels.

Historically, neither event has had much impact on the parks.

It's either Forrester or Gartner, can't remember.

We'll be there during this time as well.
