We're thinking about giving my step-children a long weekend trip to US/IOA as a Christmas gift this year. We would arrive late on Friday Jan 2nd and leave late on Monday the 5th. Spending the 3rd, 4th and 5th at the parks. I'm wondering when the crowds start to disperse after New Years Day??

We're the non-custodial parents and they live in a different state, so between working with their school schedule and when our visitations are, we are very limited on when we can go. I figure Monday the 5th should be low level crowds. Somebody please tell me Saturday and Sunday aren't going to be sardine days :(

TIA
Judy

My guess is that Friday and Saturday are going to be very busy. Not the super busy of Christmas to New Years but close. Friday is the last day of the Christmas blackout period for power passes and Saturday is the last day for the Christmas Parade and Grinchmas. Sunday should be decidedly calmer as people start traveling home and Monday should be moderate to slow since most K-12 schools will be back in secession although a lot of colleges still have another week or 2 off.

Since many schools don't go back to school till Monday the 5th, I would expect it to remain on the busier side till Sunday

Thanks for the input!

I think we're going to suck it up and hope for the best with using express passes.

i was at the parks jan 3-13 this year.

school did not go back to session until the 6th or something near it.

parks were crowded but slacked off once school went back in session.

use the express liness and SRL when you can.
