Crowd Levels - December 15-20

Myself and my 3 kids are staying from December 15-20. The crowd levels seem to keep dropping according to Touring Plans. Why is this? I know it won't be as busy as the week of Christmas, but I mean some parks are crowd levels below 4 during our stay which seems unusual to me. Thanks.

We were there around that time a couple of years ago. I found the crowds were light to moderate at the beginning of the week and then got busier toward the end of the week. A lot of people don't take that week for vacation due to school testing/finals.

I figured as much, but not that low though...those are lower than our trip in October 2015 for F&W. Don't get me wrong, I hope they are very low I just don't want to expect empty parks and then see a gazillion people there upon arrival.

We used to go in October all the time as that was one of the "slow" months. We've found that October is now one of the busiest months of the year! Between F & W and the Halloween parties its become really popular. Our last December trip had lower crowds than our last October trip.

Our last trip was amazing in regards to crowd levels. We never waited longer than 20 minutes for anything (including mine train). The weather was perfect too.

Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but my family of 4 will be there from 16-23 so there's some addition to the crowds, lol. Seriously though, I'm hoping for lighter crowds also. I'm going in with a spring break crowd mind set (we were there SB 2017) and hoping for the best. I think a lot of schools aren't letting out for Christmas break until the end of that week or beginning of the next. Hope so as that would be awesome!

We were there that week last year and, though I wouldn't give crowd levels a 4 (I would go with a 6/7), they were completely manageable. If it is anything like last year, you will be out before the bulk of the crowds start arriving - we could see a noticeable uptick the Friday evening before Christmas - we got out of dodge the next day! We had a great time!

We were there around the same time last year and would do it again. Crowds do build as it gets closer to the holidays but nothing to worry about.

December 15 - 23. For us so thats more people to worry about pirate:. I use TP and others for guidance but I always use the old "prepare for worst " philosophy. I am not sure we will see the 3s that are listed but won't be very bad and certainly manageable with a good plan. It's hard if your guideline changes and I would expect at least one more adjustment and maybe more once park hours are more concrete and nighttime entertainment options are fully known. Sadly FPP date will be past I do believe once that final hours/shows adjustment is made.

When you got the email explaining that your numbers had been adjusted down, did you click the link at the bottom directing you to their explanatory blog post? There have been quite a few posts lately on this board that make me wonder if a lot of people are not reading the explanation, only the numbers. Thus the confusion...

As explained in their blog, when TP downgraded estimates most recently for the fall and winter months, it was because attendance in the parks this Summer (and for Toy Story Land) have fallen way short of expectation. They are guessing this might be because people are delaying their trips until the opening of Galaxy's Edge next year. Hence, they are predicting that crowds this fall/winter will be lighter than usual. Also, October has been a very busy month in recent years. So, it makes perfect sense that your mid December trip would have lighter crowds than what you had experienced on an October trip.

Hope that helps!

Although we haven't been to WDW in a couple of years, we used to go at this exact time every year. It is a great time to go. The crowds are lower and pretty manageable plus you get all the Christmas decorations and fun.

Have a wonderful time!

You can add my family during that time also, lol. We went last year early October and the crowds were manageable. One party night was very crowded. During that time frame in December I am guessing crowd levels will be a 6 or 7 on average. Three or four I would be ecstatic but not very likely.

My daughter and I will be there during this time as well. We went last year and absolutely loved it. We used to be June visitors, but after experiencing Christmas and cooler weather, we have decided we are now Christmas visitors.
