tink said:cinamin27 - I noticed in your signature that you stayed at Sheraton Safari in 2005 - we will be there this October. Any comments/suggestions about requests to make before our trip? What restaurants are nearby?![]()
I would appreciate any information you could give me!![]()
Sheraton Safari was very nice & clean when we stayed there in 2005. GREAT beds!! If you sign up as a Starwood Rewards member (free to sign up), you will get an upgraded room with a poolview (rather than parking lot), you will also get 2 complimentary bottles of water each day (replenished when they clean your room).
Restaurants within easy walking distance (like less than 5 minute walk) are:
Pizza Hut (basically in the same parking area)
Olive Garden (walk across Palm Parkway)
Shoneys (across the street, Hwy 535) - great for breakfast
Orlando Ale House (also across 535)
Macaroni Grill (across 535)
Joe's Crab Shack (across 535)
Tony Roma's (in the shopping center to the left of the hotel)
NY Chinese Buffet (same shopping center as above)
Steak & Shake (same shopping center as above)
Manhattan Bagel (I think its Manhattan, it is a bagel joint tho, same shopping center as above)
Alittle further walk up Palm Parkway, walkable but not sure if there are sidewalks):
CiCi's Pizza
Hooters
& others that I can not remember
Oh & there is a restaurant located inside the hotel but we walked out after waiting at our table for over 15 minutes without even getting a hello from our waiter. Also the prices were ok but they charge service fees on everything (at dinner time at least). We received complimentary passes to eat at the breakfast buffet (due to housekeeping not leaving towels in our room), it was ok for free but nothing to write home about.
