We are flying out of Buffalo in December and I wanted to pack snack for the kids (Ds 2 & DD 5) for Disney... a Box of Cheerios, Goldfish Crackers, teddy grahms, breakfast bars ... that sort of thing. Now when we cross the border would that be ok??

I packed granola bars, cheese and crackers, fruit juices and water. You can take fruit but make sure you pull of any labels on apples. This way they can't prove whether they are Cdn. or New Zealand. Oranges and Grapefruit is definately out of the question. They don't want anything heading to Florida that may cause potential danger to their crops (disease, bugs, etc.) But you are allowed to removed citrus from Florida and bring him.

We drove in May and the agent asked right off the bat if we had any food. Dh replied "Only granola bars and drinks" She then says "Any fruit?" Um nope. "Any meat?" Um... that's why we said "no" to your first question. I think she was just hungry :)

this will not be a problem. We have crossed the border many, many times with all kinds of snacks and I never got asked.
I have crossed the border with all kinds of fruit (cut up) like apple chunks and grapes since my son loves fruit. They did not ask. Should they have asked, I would have told the truth and if they made me dispose it I would have.
It is definitely not a problem. Kids need their snacks!

If you can't prove the country of origin, the fruit will probably be confiscated. It's better to keep the labels on.
