can you buy cross stitch patterns at disney world, and if so, where? thanks

At the Art of Disney stores they have complete kits from Stoney Creek that you can only buy at WDW.

You can find them at Stoneycreek.com.

thanks, anyone know how much they cost. i would like to pick some up next time i go. also, anyone want to post their thoughts on the kits?
thanks

also, do they have cross stitch available on the cruises?

and do they use dmc floss?

They range in price from $45 - $60. The floss used is DMC.
I have done half of these kits and there is a lot of detail work but nowhere near the amount of backstitching that you would expect.

thanks for your quick reply. are the ones posted on stoney creek the only ones available at wdw? sorry for all the questions.

The two places I have seen the kits for sale are at the Art of Disney store at Epcot and the one at Downtown Disney. I have never seen any kits for sale on the ship. I'd LOVE a cross stitch kit of the ships!!!!! It would be perfect in my Disney Cruise room!!!!!

I have also seen them in the shop that is in Cinderella's Castle. That is a good place to look. You can also call WDW and they will ship them to your home.

I buy the kits for the patterns only and don't use any of the other supplies.

I use a lot nicer and higher quality cross stitch fabric and usually 16-18 count instead of the fabric that is included with the kits. When you spend that much time stitching the piece it's worth the extra cost.

I used the floss that came with the Cinderella Castle kit but never again I had more problems with it knotting and tangling than when I use the DMC thread bought from the craft stores. I also don't use the cheap needles that come with the kits either.

I have seen the kits at all of the Art of Disney stores on WDW property. Seems like the one at Downtown Disney usually has the best selection. You can get any of the non-retired ones at Disneyworld by calling the merchandise line. Also watch ebay for the retired ones that was where I was able to finally pick up the Tink preening pixie kit a few years ago.

I am currently making the Selfportrait one, with the materials supplied in the kit, and no problems until now. One thing though: I think in the "legend" with the signs/ colours, there has been a mistake. I think they switched the ecru and some other pale colour (746 or something like it, it's the smilie-sign). There are not so many ecru stitches in the design, yet there is a lot of ecru floss included. OTOH, there are a lot of "smilie" stitches in the design, and not too much floss of that colour was provided, so I had to go out and buy extra floss.

If you want to cross stitch something like the cruise ship, and no patterns are for sale: there is cross-stitching software. You take a picture you like, scan the thing, let the software run and you get a cross-stitch design. I have never done this before, and am sure it isn't as easy as it sounds (digitizing designs for the embroidery machine isn't that easy either), but it's a possibility.

I ran out of gold metallic thread for one of the kits so i e-mailed Stoney Creek and they posted some out. (more than enough for what i needed)
