Crocs fit question

Hi Hope you don't mind me asking this here but there seem to be a few Crocs wearers about so thought I may get the answer to my question. I have just ordered and received a pair of Crocs Cayman style. I am a UK size 6, so US size 8 1/2. The Crocs I have got are size 9. Now, to me they seem to be too big but I have read that they are supposed to be loose fitting. Trouble is, I'm not sure how loose they should be. When I put my foot on the shoe, there is probably about 1/2 inch in front of my toes and almost 1/2 inch behind my heel. The strap at the back is about 1/4 inch behind my heel but when I walk in them the strap just touches the back of my heel. When I walk, they don't feel like they're falling off or anything but I'm only wandering round the kitchen, not walking any distance - I'm not sure how they'd feel if I walked in them for any great distance.

Please help as I only have 14 days to return them if I need a smaller pair.

My understanding is there should be a gap all the way around your foot. So 1/4-1/2" should be just right.

I usually wear a 6 1/2. The small women's 6-7 fits me perfectly. There is space in the front of my toes. And, without the strap on, my heal fits perfectly at the end of the shoe.

I'm no expert, but it sounds like they fit properly.
I wear a US size 8, and my Caymans are size 8. They feel funny until you get used to them. I took the baby out in the stroller the first day I wore them and we went around the block so I could get a really good idea of how they were going to feel.
I have only worn them once without socks. I find them much more comfortable WITH socks. I'm sure once it is warm enough for shorts I may try them without socks more often because I will look quite silly, but that's life! I wore them for the first time the other day with the strap flipped forward, and that was fine. I have a feeling that strap will give me a blister if I am not wearing socks.
Good luck! I absolutely could not rest until I had Crocs like everyone else!

i would keep them. i want a pair so bad but i am in-between sizes. on the x-smalls my big toe rubs and the smalls are way to big. you don't want them to be to small it is really uncomfortable.
