I posted on the CB but was suggested to try here..
I want to get a Cricut to make stickers, monograms, dots..nothing fancy (well, until I learn more)
suggestions to a beginner, please and thank you!

I would say get a personal size, smaller then the expression. it does more of a 6x4 inch mat then the expression which is a 12x12 size. So it's not a standard size paper, but smaller.

I would look at nthe size of the items you want to create- the cricut create has the features of the expression but the size of the original.

If you are looking for things about 6 inches or less this one would work for you (the sheet for the paper is 12 by 6 but it can't always cut things up to 5 inches on the machine due to actual size rather than cricut size.

The expression uses a 12 by 12 or a 12 by 24 inch sheet so cuts bigger objects but is more expensive as well.

I would just go ahead and get the expression. After you get the hang of the machine and making things you will want a big one anyway. (If you are like most of us! :goodvibes) If you have a local scrapbooking store like an Archivers, call and see if they do demos or if they have a beginner cricut class. That will really help you get the hang of it. My biggest piece of advise is to give it time and do not get frusterated. There is a learning curve with it and it does take time when you first get started.

thanks for the advice!! i'm going to go look this weekend! wish me luck
