Not sure if this was asked before and answered but:

Michael's is having a sale this week on the Personal Cricut machine for $89.99 usually $199.99 according to the flyer. The regular size Cricut is about $400.00 (I think). What's the difference besides size, I guess? I've always wanted one. Is getting the perosnal size one just as well as getting the other one? Are the cartridges the same? I plan on using it for scrapbooking, not sure what else I will do that I can use it for (yet)
Advice, suggestions?
Pippi:confused3

they both use the same carts...the major difference is the size you can cut...the baby bug only cuts up to 6" while the big "E" can cut up to 24" if you get the 21x24 mats....most of us use the 12x12 mats...if you are going to be using it for scrapbooking and cutting a lot of the character carts, get the big one, some of the cuts are very tiny at 6".

when I bought my baby bug only had it about 3 months before I bought the bigger one...I feel it's worth the extra money... I got mine at hallmarkscrapbook.com....they have the big "E" on sale for $219.99 which includes two carts and shipping is pretty reasonable!

I agree with Lisa, save for the bigger one! I have both and since I got the "expression" I don't use the personal sized one. The "E" can make bigger cuts which makes putting together the paper piecings (especially the Disney ones) much, much easier :)

OK thanks. I will save for the bigger one then:) I just really wanted something NOW! But I need to wait until my "scrapbooking room" gets finished:) (Haven't started it yet) But soon!!
Thanks again,
Pippi

I agree get the bigger one. Sending you a private message :goodvibes

Another difference if the Expression has a screen that shows you your cut before you make it which is sometimes handy with the shape cartridges.

I was going to actually post the same question.

But I've also decided to wait for the E simply because of the mat size. I've used a Gerber that cuts up to 36" wide, no limit on the length. For me to go to only 6", would probably have me bored in a matter of weeks.

Now when I win the lotto--it's all about buying a Gerber system for home. I'm thinking I can market window vinyl on etsy to eventually make back somewhat of the cost.

I agree with everyone else here ... look around for deals and get an E. I know some of the Wal-Marts still have machines left over from Black Friday. I started out with the small Cricut and actually had it for about 2 years before buying my Expression. Being able to cut larger and the features on the E make is worth the extra money.

And the machines left over from black friday are running around $188! :thumbsup2

Cricut products are made by Provo Craft. If you are planning on buying an Provo Craft product, please do your research. Check out the Facebook page for Boycott Provo Craft.

I personally am not happy with their business practices and sueing Craft Edge who makes Sure Cuts a Lot and also Andy who created Make the Cut. These folks are third party software, and PC is being way too greedy, IMO.

My next cutter will either be a Silhouette, or preferably a Black Cat Lynx (would love a Cougar, but not sure I could afford it!). The Lynx should be availabe soon in the USA.

I agree with everyone else.
I have the "baby" bug and the "E" since I bought the "E" I never use pull out the "baby" bug. My mother also owns both and they are both kept in original boxes when she goes to use 1 it's ALWAYS the "E" she pulls out.

PS. I won't be boycotting PC.....

I won't be boycotting PC either. I bought my Cricuts because I wanted nothing to do with my computer when it came to my scrapbooking. Although I do get annoyed with them from time to time (mostly in how long it takes from the time we hear about new carts until they actually hit the stores).
Love my E!
