Has anyone ever rented a regular crib from an outside place to use for your stay at Disney? We are considering doing this but would like any feedback! Thanks

We didn't rent from an outside source. We stayed at Shades of Green in 2000 when DS was 10 months. It was a little smaller than a normal crib. It was more the size of a pack and play, but tall like a crib. I took my own sheets from home and they fit well. We didn't have any problems and would do it again. It was pretty cheap. I'm thinking it was about $5-10 a day extra, but don't quote me on that. That was 7 years ago!! :lmao:

I'm just curious why you're thinking of renting from outside? Why not rent from Disney?

We are DVC members, so my past few years experience has been dealing with only DVC resorts, but I believe it is pretty similar at the other resorts. A year or so back, we had decent success requesting cribs from Disney. We were given full sized metal cribs, and on occasion, smaller metal cribs (about the size of a pnp). DS would not sleep in pnp, so hence the request for cribs. Our last stay, we called in advance and were told that Disney is phasing out real cribs, so while you can still request them, they are fewer and far between. We were nervous so we rented from abbf.com. I believe it was around $70 for the week. It was a nice wooden crib that put together easily. We had ordered it to arrive the night before, so it was at bell services the minute we checked in. It was delivered to our room in time for DS's afternoon nap. It's possible you can still get a crib from Disney, but if you don't want to sweat it, we had good success and I have read many many posts from happy people renting as well.

Me and my DW are trying to figure out what to do for sleeping arrangments but are told that WDW supplys the cribs for the child and family so there are no hassles

I would take that with a huge grain of salt. Disney supplies pack-n-play's, not cribs on a regular basis. Real cribs used to be available on a request only basis and some resorts do not supply them AT ALL. Every time we have ever requested a real crib and not a pack-n-play, we are given the standard Disney line that it is a request only, not a guarantee. Again, we had success in the past, but they are stating that the cribs are being phased out. Just be careful because some people (esp those that don't have DC) consider pack-n-play's cribs. Our DS does not sleep in a pnp. If your DC does sleep in a pnp, you should have one available to you probably wherever you go on Disney property.

Good luck!

Does the resort provide a sheet to go over the mattress of a crib/PNP?

They do but they are kind of yucky - I would recommend taking your baby's fitted sheet (don't wash it either) for something comforting from home.

I also second the recommendation for ABBF - the resort cribs are kind of unpleasant metal ones while the BBF ones are lovely white wooden versions (ask for unscented sheets). They also have great toddler beds - DD got 101 dalmation linens.

We are renting a full size crib from a baby's best friend for our resort. The "cribs" that the resorts suppy are pack'n'play's and dd will not sleep in a pnp or be comfortable in one. A good night's sleep for baby means a good night's sleep for everyone and that's priceless! I have heard many good things about abbf and am looking forward to using them in the fall! Good luck! :goodvibes

We rented a crib (and Graco stroller) from ABBF last month for DS2 and it worked out very well :thumbsup2 . DS hasn't been able to sleep in a pnp since he was 6 months old, so we knew we'd have to do something. ABBF was wonderful. The crib and stroller were at bell services in the late afternoon, the crib was easy and quick to assemble, and everything was spotless! We did take our own fitted sheet along from home, just to put over the one they provide (I'm a germaphobe). On checkout day we just disassembled the crib, boxed it up and called bell services to get it. It was terrific, and I would highly recommend ABBF. I know we'll use them again next time if DS is still not in a big boy bed.
