Crescent Lake Resorts Still A Good Choice?

During the last 10 years or so we've always stayed at Yacht Club. We liked the resort for several reasons (rooms, pool) but one of the primary reasons was that we could walk to DHS and Epcot whenever we wanted to grab a snack or drink or ride some of our favorite rides like TOT. I guess we cannot do that now in the morning but can still go to either of those parks after 2 PM with parkhoppers. Has this changed anyone's minds on where they stay? For example, the food options for lunch at those resorts aren't great so we'd grab something from Epcot. Now that we can't do that I'm thinking about picking somewhere else, perhaps a monorail resort. Any thoughts are welcome.

Nope. If anything Covid times make those resorts even more attractive given the transportation situation on property. I deliberately changed my postponed trip from last May to a split stay between GF and YC so that I could walk to 3 parks and only have to deal with buses at AK. I’m frankly not worried about food options at lunch during my YC stay since I always try to eat QS at off times anyway (that’s a good practice nowadays, more than ever). Don’t forget Riviera is an option now via the Skyliner as well.

I think if you can handle the logistics of it and it’s at all within your budget, a split stay between a monorail resort and Crescent Lake is ideal right now.

Your comment about transportation reminded me--is monorail running regular schedule now?

The Epcot line is still not running as of yet with no ETA on its return and the Resort line is still skipping the Poly because they’re not finished building the new station yet. So depending on when your trip is, you might have to take a bus to and from Epcot.

I couldn't agree with this more!!!!
During our last couple of stays at BWV (post-covid) we hopped the skyliner over to Rivera for their quick serve. On my trip a couple of weeks ago, Tratorria al Forno had mobile order available, which was a fantastic option when I decided at the last minute that I wanted to eat there, but it was all booked up. Ale & Compass also has mobile order available.

We also found we really like the quick serve at YC. We've eaten there a couple of times during our last trips and they have some really good sandwiches.

We have also done split stays between the EP and MK resorts to minimize bus dependency. We try to make AK our move-day park, since we have to take a bus there regardless of where we stay.

That’s my plan too, going to AK on my move day. This will be my first split stay and I will be solo this trip. Do you have Disney move your luggage or do you move it over yourself?

Resorts in that area will only get more popular as Epcot slowly becomes less of a construction site. That's about the only thing that makes staying there slightly less attractive for me at this time.

I always stay at least the end of my trip at the Epcot resorts, lately Swan/Dolphin. Most of the time I do split stays with the first night or two at a value or mod then moving over to Epcot. My thoughts are: I drive down so I get there around 2-3 and go right to a park after dropping my stuff in my room and don't come back until latish so it doesn't make sense to pay deluxe prices for that one night. I tend to do MK and AK on those days since, as others have said, you have to bus to AK anyway (yes I have a car, I don't normally drive to the parks, I've done it twice on move day). MK is usually a half day park for us so sometimes I hit it arrival day, it really depends on which bus arrives first. I'll do AK on the first full day, if I'm only staying one night I get up early and move my car to resort #2 and hop a bus there. Twice we have driven to AK on move day and only stayed half day or until our room is ready. Then it's Epcot and HS most of the rest of the trip. I might hop over to MK in the afternoon or evening sometimes or even split it with my AK day. I was there in April and stayed my entire 5 nights at Dolphin as a treat to myself. I hopped every day, one day to three parks and was in Epcot for a little while every single day (F&G booths).

To the bolded... be aware that, currently, you can do that at 2 PM if you've previously entered a park you have a reservation for first. You literally have to be "hopping" to enter a park after 2 PM. You can't just show up after 2 PM without any park reservations. And even if you have a reservation for another park, you have to actually GO there and tap in first before you can hop at 2 PM.

Thanks for all the responses. I was leaning towards Grand Floridian but now thinking Beach Club (Yacht Club isn't available) is the better option!
