There was a recent post about spiders and snakes at Disney. It got me kind of freaked out! We are staying at Kidani Village in AKV. Are there more spiders or snakes at that resort being near animals and having more of an outdoor style? I know this might sound like a dumb question but it really does creep me out. I'm not freaked out by the bed bugs I saw a post about earlier b/c I understand those things happen and I know Disney will take care of it but spiders sneaking in is just part of nature and I just feel like there might be more of them at AKV!

No. We've stayed at AKL a number of times and there are no more bugs there than any other place in WDW. (And the animals don't smell). Also, there are no ground floor rooms at AKL, so there is less of a chance of something crawling around by your room.

I think any resort that has plants/gardens will attract bugs and lizards (can't think of any resort at WDW where we haven't seen lizards, but they don't bother me). Thankfully, I've never seen a snake!

I don't mind the lizards:) It's the spiders and snakes that bother me too! You defiantly put my mind at ease...I didn't know they didn't have ground floor rooms at AKV. Good to know:)

No - no greater incidence of creepycrawlies at AKL than at any other WDW resort.

You do know that all of WDW is sitting in the middle of a giant swamp, right? OKW Lover is absolutely right- you aren't more likely to see snakes and spiders at AKL than you would at any other resort. However, you also have to realize that you will find these critters at any resort- or anywhere else in Florida for that matter. They're a fact of life, but the likelihood of finding one in your room is not great.

Agreed. Disney World is part nature preserve. You will see what the OP calls "creepies" at any moment. And more.

In all the years we've been going to Disney parks and resorts we've only seen 2 things.

One time we got a nasty huge flying bug in our room at AKL Jambo house. We were really far down left side of Zebra trail, savannah side. We were on the patio and had the sliding door open and at some point this massive bug flew in. We've never seen a bug like it. We managed to kill it (don't want to get bit by some unknown insect). We shouldn't have left the sliding door open, it was around dusk.

One other time we saw a water moccasin on the sidewalk from the Boardwalk parking lot that leads towards the road that you cross to get to the main sidewalk leading up to the Boardwalk entrance. That was scary. We made a detour to avoid it, just walked all the way around through the street rather than cross it's path. :scared:

So, 30 years of going to Disney one very minor thing, and one slightly major thing that was avoided. Just watch where you are walking - this is Florida.
