I am sitting with a credit on SWA from our trip that we cancelled in April/May due to my dad being ill. I thought that I would take the kids down to WDW myself at the end of October, but I am instead thinking of waiting until we can hopefully go as a family in April.May of 2007, but of course then the credit will not be good since I have to use it by Mar 12, 2007.

Does anyone know if this is something that I could try to sell on ebay, or in my work's for sale ads?

Thanks,

Barb

I'm not sure about the sale But SW is very good with things like this and you could ask for an extension.

In the past, I was told to call Customer Service at SW and that they are usually receptive to extensions as long as the time frame is reasonable. I would think that a 30 to 45 day extension is "reasonable." Call them and see. You have nothing to lose.

If they won't extend it you can use it for tickets for anyone so could in fact advertise through your work bulletin board. We have done this several times by word of mouth with co-workers who are planning a trip anyway and they paid us the money and used our credit. Unlike some airlines, who insist you use the credit for the original person the ticket was booked for, SWA is great and lets you use it towards any future purchase for flights up to the date of the original purchase. Good luck!

When we needed to extend our vouchers, they said at that time, that if it was credit, they would extend it for 6 months as a courtesy, at no extra charge, but since it was vouchers, they needed to charge us $50 each. So it certainly won't hurt for you to try, sounds like they are pretty good about it.

I called SW a couple months ago about an extension and they told me to call (near the expiration date) and they will issue a 6 month extension. What I have learned from the DIS board is that if you pay for your new tickets, after you have completed your trip (within the six months), you can submit the paperwork showing your flights and SW will credit your card with the unused funds.
