I've seen a lot of posts saying your card is only charged if you are a no show. Does that mean even if you cancel with less than 24 hour notice they still do not charge your card?

You must cancel at least 24 hours in advance or you will be charged. It is in explained in this sticky thread here...

When you make a reservation that includes a credit card guarantee (or full pre-payment) the cancellation policy will be listed. Most reservations have a day before deadline, but some events will have a 2 day deadline.

Note that it's actually less than a full 24 hours - it's end of the day, the day before.

So if you have a late change of plans the day/evening before, it's not too late to avoid the fee.
