Hi!

We are going to Disney for the first time!! I would LOVE some tips on creative and fun ways to tell my 10 year old DD that we are going!

thanks!!

Serve her all mickey mouse shaped food for the day. Disney fruit snacks. Pancakes, cookies, hamburgers. We have a mickey cookie cutter which helps.

Have her make a red, black and yellow paper chain for the number of days until the trip but don't tell her what the chain is for until she is finished. Or make it yourself and tell her to tear one off and then explain.

Send her something in the mail. A card. A small gift from Mickey. My kids love to get stuff in the mail.

Leave her a message on the bathroom mirror and draw a Disney picture to go with it. Crayola has special markers for this. I think Rose Art does too.

Sounds like fun! I bought a card today to mail to her from Minnie Mouse... I like the idea of the food too!
thank you!

Just read on the budget board where someone had a Disney cake made at a bakery and had them write "the cats7494 family is going to Disney". After dinner she had the kids close their eyes while she brought out the "special dessert". Sounds like a great way to do it.

What a cute idea! I love the cake idea!
Thank you!!!

What about some sort of treasure hunt with clues around the house and garden....this would be loads of fun you could also create a wordsearch on line which could just have one clue word within it on each Wordsearch.....or create a simple cross word puzzle

I am doing the Hunt for my neice in August. She will be turning 13 and a Trip to Disney is my gift to her. We already started working on clues and hiding places. We are using such clues as

Get Ready

Get Packing

Were

Going

to

Disney

Each clue will lead her to the next. When she gets to the final clue I will have a box wrapped with all the information inside. So she will not know were we are going until she unwraps the box.

Think of doing a box inside a box, inside a box...
Just to drive her crazy

19My first trip to Disney was about 25 years ago- Just 6 years old. My parents picked us up from school and the car was already packed - we knew nothing!!! In the back seat was a stuffed Mickey and Minnie with a little tag that said _ "Meet me at My House". Off we went. That was my most memorable trip yet!

Though everone seemed to have great ideas. I'm taking my 11 year old daughter and one of her friends March 19, 05 - April 3, 05 and they've already started packing and planning. Our last trip was 2002 and we flew a young girl down from NY to meet our family there and she didn't know until about a week before. We sent her a postcard.

For a 17-year old it was hilarious to watch my parents and grandparents act out a interview on television. We all sat down to watch an old video of us at Disney and then my mom broke in as a reporter-type thing. She asked my grandparents their favorite things about Disney and then they started talking about how much they wanted to go again. Then they yelled out that they wanted to go at Christmas. I thought it was a lot of fun. Other ways my grandparents have told me is by wrapping up planning videos, books, etc. in wrapping paper for birthdays and Christmas. I had a friend whose parents didn't tell them until the morning they left for the airport, except they didn't get to go because it happened to be on Sept. 11, but that was a cool idea too.
