Anyone ever have a book or library themed party for kids? And if so, what did you serve for snacks?

So far I've only thought of "bookworms" (of the gummy variety, of course).

The closest I came to a book themed party was reading pirate stories at a pirate party.

What is the age range of the kids? Is there a certain book/author for the theme?

Ideas that come to my mind are 1) make little books from graham crackers and peanut butter or marshmallow fluff 2) if it's young kids and you are reading Eric Carle books, you could make snacks that go with the particular books, such as the snacks from The Very Hungry Caterpillar, little butterfly sandwiches (triangle bread slices with cheese on top, could add olives or raisins, etc. with a celery stick or carrot stick down the middle) 3)cream cheese or cheese spread on crackers.

I'm not sure about books in general, but some books do have notable foods - green eggs and ham for little kids, pumpkin juice from Harry Potter for older ones.

I hosted a book swap over the summer and bought the packaged rice krispie treats, frosted the sides white and the top and "binding" in colored frosting. I wrote BOOK across the front in frosting (couldn't fit an actual title) and stuck in a gummy worm in to look like a book worm. I had to hollow out a little hole to get the worm in there. They were cute and yummy, and super easy to make.

for some reason when I read this, I thought Apples!! I always picture books and apples (for school) together. but you could do apple pieces with dipping sauces or carmel apples (like disney ones!)

I was reading a Family Fun magazine in a waiting room yesterday and they did a book party and made these bookworm snacks: http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/appetizers-snacks/sweet-snacks/eat-your-worms-984134/

They also made book bags with a plain canvas tote bag and rectangular stamps (to look like a book spine)

My DD was in a book club after school and they just had their final meet. One of the little girls brought in the bookworm snack that is shown in the above article and they are adorable! They were a huge hit with the kids!
