Crazy Split Stay, Multi Reservation FP+ Question

I'll start with the question, then explain the scenario:

Who can I book fastpasses for, and when?

We (me, wife, and 2 sons) are going for 11 nights (Mon - following Fri), getting there 61 days from now. We are going to be splitting our stay, with the first 5 nights at Coronado, and the last 6 nights at POFQ. We have 9-day tickets tied to our first reservation, and none on the second.

To make it more complicated, my mother is also arriving on our first night of POFQ (Saturday) and staying for 4 nights. She has a 3-day park ticket. I am all set up in MDE to handle her plans from my account.

Will I be able to:
  • Make all (including my mother) of our fastpasses tomorrow for the entire trip? **fingers crossed**
  • Make only our party of 4's fastpasses tomorrow for our entire trip, and mother will have to wait until her 60 day mark (in 6 days)
  • Make only our (party of 4) first week's fastpasses tomorrow and have to wait until 60 days before we check in at POFQ to make our second week's and mom's?

Your ability to make FPs on MDE is tied to your reservation in its entirety. The split stay will not make any difference tomorrow when you make FPs. Your mothers FPs cannot be made until she shows up on the reservation which will be after the switch if I'm reading this correctly. Isn't that right?

She has a separate reservation with an arrival day that coincides with the day of our switch. So I'll be able to make all of OUR reservations tomorrow, but have to wait an additional 5 days to make hers, right? In 5 days can I just modify our current fastpasses to add her on to them?

You will be able to make reservations for her too. It's the Umbrella Method. Make your reservations first, then go to make hers. It will prompt you to remove yourself from the group since you already have 3 FPs that day. Then you can go ahead and continue making FPs for her.

You can also make your FPs, then use the "Change Party" to add her to the group without waiting the 5 days.

This would be perfect! I would have thought I would have to wait to do the "Change Party". Thanks!

@Mike D. - is your mother's ticket a package ticket, or was it separately purchased? If the former, she will be unable to make FPs until 60 days prior to her package start date. If the latter, then the quoted strategy will work.

It's her own package ticket. So, can I can't do anything with her's until her -60 day. Will I be able to just do the "Change Party" on my current FP selections at that point in time?

It will depend on whether or not there is still availability for the same attractions at the same times. I'd imagine you'll have an easy time with most, but for the hard-to-get FPs you might not be able to add her at the exact same times that you've already booked. You may need to book separate FPs for her that overlap with yours, or modify your times to those with availability for all of you in the same window.

Yeah, if it is a package, then she wouldn't be able to get it until the 60 day mark.

You can do the Change Party method then. Oftentimes people have better luck with that than searching for the same/overlapping times.
