I have 3 cats who are all almost 2 years old.

2 girls and 1 boy.

the girls are normal cats...they sleep a lot, and just generally hang out most of the time, once in a while they'll get a little rowdy but nothing too crazy.

the boy on the other hand...DRIVES ME CRAZY! most of the things i can handle, him getting into everything, jumping everywhere, knocking things over....those things don't really bother me too much, i can just pick the things up, you know?

but for some reason he will sit in the room and just MEOW away for HOURS! and it's not like one of those cute little meows, it's SO LOUD, it's almost like a whine, and half the time i'm on the phone the person on the other end can hear it(and i swear he does it even more when i'm on the phone).

i don't know what to do, i feel like i'm going to go crazy. i wouldn't mind if he did it on occasion, the girls sometimes meow for no reason, but he does it EVERYDAY for HOURS after i wake up.

it's almost like he wants attention so he meows away until you go get him, then he'll be quiet for a bit, and once your attention isn't on him again, he's meowing again.

IDK WHAT TO DO!! *pulls hair out*

thyroid test, which is a blood test, can check to see if he is hyperthyroid. Constant meowing is a symptom believe it or not!
Is he neutered? Get him checked out. Another possibility is going deaf. Check in after you do this. Would be interested to see what it is!

I had a talker too, turns out she had hyperthyriodism. Has he always done it or is this new? Some breeds are just more talky than others.
It does sound like he's trying to get attention and sometimes they're trying to tell us that something is not feeling right. Does his tone change when he knows you're paying attention

The phone thing is b/c he thinks you're talking to him.
Good Luck, hope he's just a talker.

i never would have though of that because my parents, when i was younger, had cats and the one had hypothyroidism and he barely ever made a peep lol. he's definatly not going deaf tho....he can hear me opening the door from upstairs!

i honestly think it's just his breed because he's ALWAYS been a talker, ever since he was a baby(we got him when he was 2 months old) and DH and i bought a cat book and we think we've figured out that he's part either Siamese or Orential...they're very talkative breeds and he's also very skinny and long/lenky.

yeah his tone actually DOES change when i give him attention. his meow will quiet down a little bit. but he'll go back and forth i'll say "what's wrong?" and he'll just "meow" quietly back at me lol.
