Does anyone have this? I can't get it to work. The light won't come on and yes, I tried different light bulbs and tested the outlet. (I can't test the lightbulbs as I have nothing that takes that kind, but I did try different bulbs.)

I am going to return it to ACM. But I wanted to know if it is worth exchanging it for a new one.

OT: I already had to return a DSI from Santa - -the elves are slipping.

Bubba got one too. Infact it's sitting right in front of me right

It was one of the toys of the year. I tried to get another one
for my nieces kids and there was a big note at m's and acm
that there were none and that they would not get any more
until after the holidays.

I had one, it never worked really well though. Does the knob have a pic of a light bulb? If I recall you had to turn the knob to a certain point to turn the bulb on.

I prefer the muffin tin method myself.

We got one for the kids a couple of years ago and we couldn't get it to work - I ended up returning it. Sorry...

I did turn it to the lightbulb, but it just doesn't feel like it gets all the way there. It seems like I'll just be returning this. (And perhaps using the $20 on scrapbooking stuff!)

What is the muffin tin method?


I have a tip for getting the labels off the crayons: exacto knife!

peel the paper off all the crayons
break them up into pieces that fit the muffin tins
oven at about 150 degrees
melt for 10-15 minutes
let cool
pop out of tins

Don't let them melt too long or the colors will get icky. You just want them to bleed a little bit and be able to see the different colors better.


I like to put all blues in one, greens in another, etc. Because I can't stand random.

Does it wreck the pan? Do I need to get the disposable ones? A single layer or can they overlap a bit?

THe kdis already picked crayons as I assumed the thing would work -- they picked combinations that would make you squirm.

Another fun thing to do with bit ends of crayon is to make ictures in wax paper with the shavings.

I have a beat up old cup cake pan. I don't see why paper liners wouldn't work. Or those tin foil liners.

The metal cupcake cups should work. Mom always blended colors but I'm to AR to do that.
Not sure about the bulb Holly, maybe a night light bulb?

According to the box, a 60W, clear, candelabra , samll base, type B bulb. I purchased GE reveal 60, decorative type b bulb, item number 48714.
