What are some of your favorite activities throughout the day to be on the lookout for?

Also, what crafts have you made at the family crafts activity?

While I am a big fan of just sitting in the sun up on deck and enjoying Satellite Falls, we do enjoy taking some time to do trivia. Over the years we have also done some tastings (tequila, martini) and done the Art of the Theme Ship tour. MY DSs have done some of the drawing classes, towel folding classes, and Chip it Golf and liked those.

Unfortunately, I don't have any information on crafts, but maybe someone else can help you with that.

My only "must do" activity is Art of the Theme Show tour.

I've done drawing classes, and that was fun. Mixology and tastings are fun.

I'm not into crafts, so I never pay attention to those. Sorry.

Edit to add: Art of the Theme Show is 18+ only.

The family crafts are a little basic and ho-hum. We've had paper folding for Phineas and Ferb or a Mickey Mouse (i.e. these characters are printed on the paper and you cut them out and then do some folds so they stand or something). Paper door hangers (they have them cut out of construction paper and give markers, sequins and a few sticker sheets for the group) and scrapbooking (you get a piece of Disney scrapbooking paper and access to past navigators to cut out pictures and words). The best family craft we had was button making but that was held at 2pm on Castaway Cay day while most people were off the ship.

Adult crafts tend to be better (the tile coasters come to mind).

I like trivia Chip it Golf and the Mickey 500. You build a car out of veggies and race them. Some crafts are fun like the scrapbook page we did on Magic.

Do they have Art of the Theme Show tour on all 4 ships? When is that usually done?

I believe so. I've only been on 3 but all 3 had them. On the Magic I did it on the Sea Day. Probably on a Sea Day on the Fantasy as well and the 4-night Dream. But I know we did it on a 3-night Dream also (each of the staff who do it point out some different things, so you learn something each time). Probably late afternoon of CC day?

We enjoyed the button making class. We also liked the Backstage Magic tour on our
Panama Canal cruise. We have also done the galley tour. My nephew liked the
Mickey 200 build your own racecar out of vegetables event. This last time
I did "Anyone Can Cook" during the open house in the Kids Club. We
decorated cupcakes.

One note - the backstage & galley tours are not available on all cruises. Usually the longer, special cruises. Although, on occasion, you can ask at Guest Services once onboard whether the galley tour will be available on your cruise. It's up to the chef & cruise director whether they will set one up or not.

Is it one of those things where if there's enough interest they'll do it?

Kind of. But, ultimately, it's up to the chef & the cruise director whether they want to schedule them. For the galley tours.

The backstage tours, I've only experienced on our longer (14 night) cruises.

Are there adult crafts at separate times from family? It will be only my husband and I, so that would be even better for us.

I did a tile coaster on the Wonder that was adults only! It's a cute (free!) souvenir. We did a LOT of the family crafts too b/c my 11yo loves that stuff. We did those paper folding ones (yeah, kind of lame - think it was called a "pirate craft" and I wasn't sure what that was going to mean and wouldn't do it again); the button making one (I liked that one, that made for a good free souvenir too); Mardi Gras masks (pretty evenly split between adults-only groups and parent/kid groups on that one). She did origami with DH too. If you ask DD what the best parts of a Disney cruise are, she'll tell you the Broadway-type shows, the crafts, and Eye-scream, LOL! I doubt crafts make the top 3 for most cruisers. But definitely try to go to the tile coaster and button ones. The masks may be specific to the Wonder b/c of Tiana's, I believe, but that was a good one too.
