Crafting My Way To An October F&W Extravaganza! Final Days Update 10/7

Hey there Joh! That stinks that I'll just miss you guys.:sad2: We'll get to meet up in WDW one of these times!

We'd better - you still owe me the story about why you didn't end up getting married at the Boardwalk. And I still owe you a cocktail while you're telling the story :rotfl: I do have another trip planned for March - hint, hint ;)

Definitely doing a DR! That's one of my favorite things about the trips. If Barb still has the Live Dining thread going in October I'll take part in that as well. Hubby has already been warned that I will now be needing two pictures of all his food. One with the camera for my DR and one with my phone for the live thread. Let's see how long into the trip I drive him crazy taking pics of his food! :rotfl2:

Haha, two lots of photos - that would drive any sane, non-DISing husband crazy.

The coasters turned out great! And you could do it as a non-Disney project too. I just did ones for a bridal shower where I printed out maps online of significant places in the couple's lives (where they met, where they are getting married, etc) and made those into coasters and gave them wine glasses and wine with them for a whole theme. They were a huge hit!

Hmmm, now you have me thinking - my best friend gets married next Christmas, wonder if I could make something for her and her fiancé as a pre-wedding gift. I am so non-artistic though, I have no idea how they would turn out :confused3

Hey! I just found your thread. I'll be at the F&W Oct. 24 & 25 also! Your PTR will help build my excitement as well. My husband and I are taking my mom to see the Survivor concerts. She loves them. We went last year, too. Last year we had spreadsheets with all of the food we wanted to try. This year will be much more relaxed. We feel like pros :rotfl2: . We'll stick to our favorites from last year and maybe add a couple new things. No spreadsheets this year!

I also love the ribbon princesses!

Joining in! :) I'm headed down with my family the week before you arrive :) I'm also a pinsessed crafter! I'm only just noe getting around to our countdown - hopefully will do that tomorrow! Looking forward to following your plans and crafts!

Oh, the wedding story gets juicier and juicier. It was supposed to happen 4 years ago and my MIL still manages to rub salt in that wound, even now. :(

The coasters would be great for your best friend! The couples themed one really did go over very well. You don't have to be artistic at all. They really are so simple to make. I swear! :thumbsup2

Welcome, welcome! Maybe we'll run into each other at F&W! The concerts should be fun. I really wish I was there for Go-Gos because they were my favorite as a kid. I used to rock out to my Beta tape of all their music videos. :lmao: However, I'm happy to settle for Boyz II Men and Survivor.

I am trying to be relaxed about my approach to F&W as well. I want to try so much and I have a lot of time, but I know myself. I'll stress myself out trying to fit in every single food item possible. Question, what were some of your favorites from last year?

Thanks for joining in! :goodvibes That's awesome that you're doing a countdown too. I should have made my countdown longer because my husband is obsessing over how many days are left. He calls me from work almost every day to ask how many days are left. I see from your signature that you're staying at SSR for part of your trip. It's really nice there. We've stayed there 3 times now and while it doesn't have the really amazing theming that some resorts do, it's nice to be so close to DTD. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

You know, after a certain number of booths, you just won't care if you never see another booth again! That happened to me by the time we got to Germany (almost halfway). I couldn't fit one more thing in my mouth and I was okay with that. Then we did it all over again the next day with the other half .

Some favorites: my husband and mom absolutely loved the Mongolian beef on a steamed bun. I didn't have that last year, but I will try it this year. Last year I really liked the spanikopita, escargot en brioche, and paneer cheese pocket. My husband also really liked the filet from the Canadian booth.

You get Boyz II Men and Survivor and we get.....Hanson - did they sing anything other than Mm Bop :rotfl2:

The real question is, do I want to ADMIT to knowing any Hanson songs besides MmBop! :lmao:

The Mongolian beef wasn't on my list, but I think I might have to give that one a try. It's been 4 years since I've been able to attend F&W, but I am soooooo glad they still haven't gotten rid of the escargot. I absolutely love it! That one I will be having multiple times. Thanks for the suggestions! :thumbsup2

I am sitting in my living room with the delicious smell of beef tips cooking up in the Crock-Pot and a beautiful banana cake sitting on the counter top waiting to be devoured. I have food on the brain today! So, with that in mind, let me reveal my all new dining itinerary.

I made a few changes and additions this morning, so here is the new list.

10/15- Arrival Day! Still unsure about what we are doing and where we are eating during the day, but the evening is reserved for DTD. Just added a 6:15 dinner reservation to Raglan Road! We haven't eaten here since our Disneymoon in 2009 and it was an off meal for us. We were in a massive hurry to make a movie on time and they were out of that amazing looking bread pudding, so I think it's about time to give Raglan Road a proper try.

10/16- Olivia's for breakfast followed by and afternoon at F&W. Another evening at DTD where I definitely see a meatloaf sandwich from WPE in my future. In case you have never had one, this is what you are missing.

10/17- Another breakfast at Olivia's. Nothing at AK is jumping out at me this year as a must do, so I think we'll just grab a snack or two. There is a new vegetarian food kiosk that has Samosas which are calling my name. I also must try a frozen blueberry mango rum lemonade from Trilo-Bites if it's still available. I totally envision myself wandering around AK with one of those and a Mickey pretzel. Dinner for that night is Jiko at 6pm. I like Jiko, but I don't love it. It can be hit or miss for me. This is hubby's pick. He loves it here. The man does everything I want on vacation, so the least I can do is let him pick a restaurant he really wants. :thumbsup2

10/18- Our final breakfast at Olivia's. Gee, I hope we like this place. :lmao: I am CONSIDERING doing a water park this day. Hubby loves it and I usually resist. I am just not a huge fan, especially when I'm not skinny, but we have some old tickets we could use. It's a possibility. If not, maybe some pool time and an afternoon trip to DTD and WPE for another meatloaf sandwich. :thumbsup2

10/19- Today we switch resorts and head over to BLT. Before we get there we are going to Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast. I have never eaten at this restaurant and I am excited to give it a try! Lunch will hopefully be Be Our Guest. I have not been able to get a reservation for dinner, but the lunch menu looks good too, so what the heck. Dinner is a bit up in the air. I'm thinking about going to Poly for some counter service at Captain Cooks. Wherever we end up we will not be getting dessert because I have other plans. Apparently at the bar in Narcoossee you can order from the menu, which is great because I do not care for their current entrees, but I MUST have the almond crusted cheesecake.

We have had it twice and it is beyond amazing. I think it's about time we have it again. Then it will be back to MK for a viewing of Wishes. :goodvibes

10/20- This morning we will be having a very early breakfast at Kona so I can have my favorite. Tonga Toast and breakfast ham.

Oh, I must have this.

This will be followed by another afternoon of snacking around AK. Dinner will be at Artist Point at 6pm. This will give us plenty of time to get back to BLT and find a good viewing spot for HalloWishes.

10/21- We will be checking out of BLT today, but first, a trip over to MK for my all time favorite breakfast spot. Crystal Palace! A few picks of CP from over the years.

Me and my mom, and Eeyore of course, on a family trip circa 2003

With my aunt, uncle, grandparents, mom, stepdad and siblings circa 2003

Just me and my mom on our trip together to celebrate my 21st birthday! Crystal palace was our first stop!

Me with Pooh circa 2006. I love this picture!

Hubby on his first trip!

With his sis on her first trip to WDW

At breakfast the first day of our Disneymoon

Crystal Palace definitely holds a special place in my heart. So many fun memories here. :goodvibes

I love it here for breakfast (not so much for dinner) but hubby had growen sick of it for awhile, so we haven't had breakfast here the past 3 trips. I decided to throw it back in the rotation this year because I am really missing it. I need a whole plate of french toast puffs and breakfast lasagna STAT!

Then we will be switching over to BWV and the remainder of the day will be spent at F&W,

10/22- Our day will probably start at the Boardwalk Bakery and the rest of the day is F&W. And a long break at the creepy clown pool. :lmao:

10/23- Probably exactly the same as the previous day, with the possibility of Starring Rolls thrown in there for a sugary breakfast.

10/24- Oh boy, looks like more of the same today. Look out F&W, here we come! :rotfl:

10/25- Last full day! Say it isn't so! Guess what today is?! All day F&W! How did you guess?!:rotfl2:

10/26- Check out day :( So sad. But, to ease the pain I booked something I am pretty excited about. Breakfast at Boma! We ate here for dinner in 2007, so it's been awhile and I really want to try breakfast there. I hear so many good things, so I think this will be the perfect send off.

Hoping during all those F&W days to sneak in a visit to Beaches & Cream. We have never been there and I have been wanting to try it. I also want to do Flying Fish this trip, but I don't want to make a reservation and then have to cancel it because we ate too much at F&W. That happened to us a few times in 2009. If we decide to eat there one night I'll just hope I can secure a walk-up.

Well, there it is. What does everyone think of our food plans?

Jeri, I absolutely love the picture of you and your Mom (Mum) at Crystal Palace on your 21st Birthday trip. I am taking my daughter to WDW in March to celebrate HER 21st and I really hope we can create some great memories together, I am so looking forward to eating and drinking around Disney with her :thumbsup2

I can't believe you have never eaten at Beaches & Cream - shame on you, young lady ;);) We love the Fudge Mud Slide there :thumbsup2 Although, of course, for the peanut butter lovers, there's the No Way Jose.

I have the Blueberry Mango Rum Lemonade from Trilo-Bites on my 'list' for October too - plus the teriyaki boneless wings from Mr Kamal's :)

Thanks Joh! I have such fond memories of that trip. It was just the two of us for a whole week and it was a blast! I'm sure you and your daughter will have a fantastic time together. Enjoy every second of it! :goodvibes

I can't believe I haven't been there either! I never knew about it until a few years ago and since then our timing just never seems to work out with trying eat there. However, this time I am determined to have a No Way Jose. Chocolate peanut butter is my favorite!

Hopefully we both get to try the lemonade in October! It looks too delicious for words! I am in serious need of a frozen boozy drink this weekend. I am determined to have one in the new glassware I just got. I will post a pic of them later on. They're fantastic! :thumbsup2

Following along! We will be there around the same time. Oct 18-28 for us! We are also moving around.. Pop the first night as we arrive VERY late.. Then to the Dolphin for the F&W classic, then to Wilderness Lodge for 8 nights!

We will also be at Epcot at least part of the day on 7 different days as I have several Seminars booked and Party for the Senses!

Can't wait for all the delicious eats!

You are going to eat so good. Love that you love CP so much. I have been there only once as a kid and have no memories of the food...BUT we will be eating there on Christmas Morning and are very excited

Sorry for the lack of updates and responses everyone! I just started my new job and got my brother moved into college within the last week. I have been lacking some quality time on the DIS!

stop your making me hungry.......:rotfl2:

Oh my gosh, I totally torture myself on here some days. I stalk the Live Dining thread, which I LOVE, but it is bad for my diet to stare at delicious food pics 5-10 times a day.

Thanks for joining in! I would love to try the F&W at Dolphin, but I don't think it's in the cards for us this trip. Hopefully another year I will get to check it out! I love Wilderness Lodge. We were actually supposed to stay there for a few days this trip, but the dates got kinda switched around at one point and I canceled the 3 days we had booked there. I was pretty sad about it, but at least we're staying at so many awesome places this trip. Hubby really wanted to stay there, but it looks like we will have to shoot for next trip.

Hopefully we'll run into each other around WS! I'll be on the lookout for you. :thumbsup2

Crystal Palace on Christmas morning! Wow, I am so jealous! Hope you have an amazing time! :goodvibes

We will be down around the same time Oct 18-26, flying out of Atlantic City and staying at the AKL. Your plans sound great, I am still tweaking my plans, trying to get BOG for dinner, but alas, it may be impossible. Counting down the days until I can once again enjoy my ab fav carrot cake cookie from DHS.:banana::banana:

Hi there! I have never flown out of AC, but I have looked into it a few times. I know you can get some good deals out of there. Hope you have a blast at AKL! We really enjoy it there. I'm still trying to get BOG for dinner as well. It's not looking good. I think I will have to remain satisfied with lunch. Have a great trip and enjoy that carrot cake cookie! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone! A few exciting updates today! First of all, yesterday was the big day. It was the start of the official countdown! Hubby was kind enough to take a picture of me removing the first Mickey day... but then he stuck it on my nose to take a funny picture. :rotfl2: Boys.

Yay! It's finally feeling very real that we are going on vacation. Can't wait!

Next, I discovered today that I could order MagicBands for our trip! I never got an email about it, but today when I happened to look at the MDE app on my phone I finally saw selections for Fastpass+ and MagicBands. So... that has pretty much consumed my day.

I discovered one small problem, but I was able to fix it with a quick call to DVC. I booked our hotels through DVC and I booked them at various times and had to wait for certain days to come through on the wait list and therefor had 6 separate reservation numbers for 3 different hotels. So, this was the message I had about how many MagicBands I could customize.

12 MagicBands! Um, I do not feel like hauling 12 MagicBands down to Florida in my suitcase and then try to keep track of which ones are which. I called DVC to find out if they could lower the number of reservations by combining all the ones at each hotel into one reservation. That way I'm dealing with three reservation numbers and therefor three sets of MagicBands instead of six. They were able to take care of this for me very quickly and then I was all set to customize my three sets of bands.

I caught it just in time too because today was my last day to customize the ones for our stay at OKW. I kept the colors the same, but I changed our names on each one. I put some cute little nicknames and pop culture references in, in place of our names. I'll post some pics as soon as they arrive in the mail.

Then I did what I had been putting off doing. I added our UT tickets to my MDE account. I was really nervous about doing this, but it seemed to work fine. Hopefully I can avoid any issues once we are actually at the park. I have spent the last few hours messing with Fastpass+ and I really like our plans. Magic Kingdom is the hardest one to plan, but we'll see how it goes once I'm there. At least I can always change it up a bit once I'm down there. Fingers crossed for MagicBand success!

Jeri, thank you for your post - you reminded me that we hadn't yet started 'covering up Mickeys' on our own countdown chart. Ours begins at 43 days so we were 3 days behind :guilty:

I am living vicariously through your MagicBands - since we are staying at the Swan we don't get to participate in FP+ so I am very jealous of those who get to try it out. I can understand your hesitancy in adding your UT tickets. I was exactly the same when I added my DD's ticket to MDE but it worked fine (if you ignore the whole 'is this an 'O' or a '0' issue) ;)

Can't wait to see your nicknames and pop culture references. Your trip so close, which means mine isn't much further away :thumbsup2

that's a lot of bands to keep track of even 6 would be a hastle.......I think one hotel and and reservation is all I can handle so no hotel hopping for me......lol leave that to the younger set.......Have fun getting so close now!

That would have been funny to have so many bands! You could each have had quite the color selection! WE get 2 each and I ordered different colors for the different hotels. That way I can choose which I like that best that day! We will get 2 more each in December so that will be 4 choices each! :lmao: I just want them to come out with purple!!
