Crafting My Way To An October F&W Extravaganza! Final Days Update 10/7

I just now read about your ADRs. WPE is one of our favorites. I also love the breakfast pizza.

Your ribbon princesses are adorable! I think Belle is precious with her little rose. :goodvibes

I love WPE! I can't believe it took me so long to discover that place. Now I dream about those meatloaf sandwiches!:cloud9:

Thank you! I love the Belle one. So cute!

Love those princess ribbons showed DH and he was impressed....that's saying a lot :rotfl2: He doesn't normally pay attention to my craft finds.

 Thank you! That is so funny about your DH! Men don't get the crafts. I scrapbook a lot and my hubby is always cracking on me. I do a few weekend scrapbook trips with my mom and a bunch of other women and every time I leave for one my husband always yells as I'm leaving, "Scissors ready! One, two, three, SCRAP!" Silly :)

Joining in! Those headbands are amazing! I admire your crafting ability, because while I can knit up a storm, all other crafting ability has completely failed me!

Thanks for joining in! Let me tell you, I was SHOCKED at how well those headbands turned out. I thought for sure that I would seriously screw them up, but the tutorial made it surprisingly easy. I would love to learn how to knit. And sew. I always see the cutest projects on Pinterest, but don't have the first idea how to even begin them. Hopefully one day I'll learn!

3 months from today we will be starting our drive down to Florida! :cool1:

I hate to wish my summer away, but I am so ready for this trip to happen.

Today I want to share with you my favorite craft I have done so far. The Disney Princess ribbons! These are so fun and cheap to make. They are also surprisingly easy to make as well. I used an online tutorial which you can find HERE.

I started out with the Aurora ribbon because the tutorial said it was the easiest one to do. And also because she's my favorite. :goodvibes

I stopped by the local craft store and bought a few spools of ribbon and a small hot glue gun. With the coupon I had and the ribbon sale that was going on I got everything I needed for under $10.

The finished product!

I just realized this picture is slightly out of focus, but pretty cool right?!

I was hooked! Now I needed to run back to the craft store, armed with more coupons, and get the ribbon colors needed for some of the other princesses.

Up next is Ariel, which I think turned out really cute.

Then I tried Cinderella. Love it!

After that I tried Snow White. I need to do another one of these because it looks a little sloppy. Her hair on the top is not black as ebony. More like, clear as hot glue.

Up next, we have Alice.

Then we have Tinker Bell. After I did this one I found some very lovely clear and sparkly ribbon that I think would look better for the wings. I'll post a pic after I make one with the new ribbon.

And last we have my favorite one I've done so far. Belle.

That little rose has been the only thing, so far, that was difficult to make. I was dealing with such tiny pieces of ribbon, so it was hard to get it into the shape I wanted.

After I made the ribbon princesses I added them to headbands.

I had a hard time getting clear pictures of these on my camera phone. I need to try again with my regular camera, but you get the idea.

These will be so cute to wear around the parks! I'm still a kid at heart!

I have these pinned too, I just haven't gotten around to them yet!!! The girls and I did make some princesses out of the perler beads. I can't decide whether I want to make them into barrettes or put magnets on them for the door or hang them in the window. here are a few, we have actually made all of the princesses but I don't have a photo of them all

Those are so cute! Love, love, love the Ariel one! They would be really awesome as magnets. Did you find this on Pinterest? I might have to give these a try. Thanks for the great idea! :thumbsup2

We have so many over-laps for our trips!

DH and I are celebrating our 15th anniversary and will be at BWV from 10/17 to 10/27.

ADR's? we have 5 booked (but one includes dinner at V&A's for our 15th), and the rest will be F&W special events and eating around the world!

Enjoy and maybe our paths will cross!:hippie:

PERLER beads! We used to spend DAYS playing (is playing the right word if an iron is involved?) with these as kids! Glad to know they are still around. These are adorable and I agree, they would make great magnets!

Yes I want magnets.. My front door is metal so guess where they will go after Disney :rotfl2:

Joining in. You did a great job on the crafts. I am obsessed with Pinterest also.

I love those ribbon princesses! I think I may have to try my hand at them:)

You should definitely give them a try! They were easier to make than I would have thought. Just start out with an easy one and then work your way up to the more detailed ones. Starting out with a more simple one helped boost my craft confidence.

That is awesome! Congrats on the upcoming anniversary! Hopefully we'll run into each other at BWV or the F&W booths. :goodvibes

Thank you so much! Pinterest is the best! My poor husband can't ever get me to put my phone away and stop looking at it at the end of the night.

Joining in! DH and I are going Dec 8-14. I read your previous dining reports and have a whole bunch of new snacks and places to eat now lol! Too bad we already have our ADRs so that list will have to go toward our 2014 trip!

Like you we usually do dining plan but are going to go without this time. I think we are going to try Tables in Wonderland. So far our plan is to drive too. We romanticize the drive as well. We plan books on tape to read, road snacks, where we will stop, etc. I even start thinking wistfully about how long it has been since our last road trip and how I miss the special bonding time DH and I get... until we are actually in the car again and it feels like you are driving FOREVER AND EVER and you start to feel like you never want to see the inside of your car again haha!

I LOVE the coasters! I think I may need some of those in my home (even though we don't use coasters...). The ribbon princesses are cute too! Looking forward to more updates!

Thanks for joining in! December is such a fun time to be in WDW. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Ok, I'm glad I'm not the only one who tends to romanticize the drive. Books on tape are a good idea! I might have to give that a try. We take our satellite radio with us, put it on the 90s grunge and alternative station and then write down 4 songs each that we think we will hear on the drive. Then we make some type of wager and whoever guesses the most songs wins. This is surprisingly difficult to win, but it's fun and keeps our spirits up on the drive. The weirdest thing about the drive is how grungy you feel by the time you reach Florida. Why does the simple act of sitting in one place for all that time make you feel so gross?

The funny thing about the coasters is, I have never used coasters at home before, but now that we have them, I actually found that we use them all the time. Weird.

Yesterday I finished my newest crafting project. A Disney World vacation countdown calendar! I love the way it turned out. I'll show you how I made it.

I started out by finding a picture of Mickey ears online I could use to trace. I messed with the print settings to get it to the size I needed and printed it out.

Next I stopped by the local Walmart and grabbed a bunch of Disney brand paint swatch cards. The colors are so vibrant and they are themed around various Disney characters, so it ties into the project even more. :thumbsup2 I will use these to trace my Mickey ears on.

I then traced Mickey ears in 30 different colors.

Then I cut of all of my Mickey ears.

Then I used extra numbers I had from my scrapbook materials and numbered all of my Mickey ears. I bought a poster board for less than $1 at my local craft store and arranged all of my Mickey ears on the board and here you have it, my Disney vacation countdown calendar!

I printed out both the countdown picture and Disney World picture online, so not counting the printer ink I had to use, I spent less than $1 on this project. It is currently hanging in our dining room and serves as a fun reminder of our upcoming trip! I can't wait to start the countdown!

Joining in! Crafting and Disney - this is my kind of report!! I made my little cousin a princess ribbon headband for her trip last year and I was really happy with how it turned out. Yours are really adorable! This sounds like it is going to be a great trip, I can't wait to read about how it turns out :goodvibes

Ok I had to try making ribbon princesses. I gave one to the little girl next door, she calls me grandma Trish.:goodvibes And made a Tink to put on my hatband. Love them. Going to make more for sure. Love the calendar idea. Not sure how DH would like me putting it on the wall though.....:rotfl2: My kitchen is already bright red so I keep thinking of doing it all in a Mickey/Minnie theme Is that cazy?:rotfl:

Just stopping by to say your crafts are SO cute! I am in love with the ribbon princesses, you did a fantastic job :yay:

Cute crafts! I can't wait to try some myself!
If you don't mind, could you share the website of where you got the perfect mickey ears outline?

Thanks!

Welcome! Thanks for joining in! :goodvibes That is so awesome that you made one of the headbands last year. I'm sure your cousin loved it! We are so excited for this trip. I can't wait to do my usual DR after this trip and do my first TR as well. I always love sharing my WDW vacations with everyone on the boards!

Yay! I'm so glad you got to make a few of the ribbon princesses. That is so sweet that you gave one to your neighbor! I think a Mickey/Minnie theme would be really cute! My kitchen is all red too, but mine is all apple themed. I'm obsessed with collecting apple items for my kitchen.

Just stopping by to say your crafts are SO cute! I am in love with the ribbon princesses, you did a fantastic job :yay:

Thanks for stopping by! :goodvibes You should definitely try making some princess ribbons for yourself. They are so fun to have sitting around as a trip reminder.

What a cute countdown. Came out great!!

Thank you very much! I love looking at it while I'm home. I hate to wish my summer away, but I'm ready to begin the countdown!

Thanks for joining in! :goodvibes I'm pretty sure the image I used can be found right HERE If that doesn't work for you, I just googled 'traceable Mickey head' and it brought up some similar images. Then I had to mess with the size of it when I went to print, so it would fit on the paint swatch cards I had. I hope you get to try some of the crafts!

A few pieces of trip planning news! First, I was crazy excited when the full list of F&W menus were announced yesterday. I spent hours last night going over the list and coming up with a plan of attack for how I am going to eat all this amazing food. So far there are about 60-70 food and drink items I want to try. I figured that we will be at Epcot 7 different days this trip, so I am going to need to eat and drink and average of 9-10 items each time. Yikes. Thank goodness I have a ton of reward money saved up on my Disney Rewards Visa right now. I'm going to need all of it this trip!

And then, right before I went to bed last night I checked my email and saw that my final waitlisted day for BWV came through! :cool1::cool1::cool1: So much good vacation news in one day! So now we will definitely be at BWV from October 21-26. I am so glad. I really did not want to leave on the Friday. One more day of F&W!

Another little update I forgot to post last week, I received my items I ordered from Disney Movie Rewards. As the former owner of a video store I of course got in tons of Disney movies and even though you can enter only one code per title, hubby and I earned a ton of points on our accounts over the years. I rarely find something I want to redeem, but a certain item caught my eye a few weeks ago when I was looking at the website. Just a few short days later they arrived in the mail.

2 $10 Starbucks gift cards. I'm not usually one to spend $5 on a coffee, but I know we will definitely be hitting up the new MSB this trip. Now we have $20 to put towards some early morning goodies in October. F&W is going to break the bank this year, so I might as well find some savings every where I can!

Now I need to hurry up and pack my bags. I'm headed to Corning New York for a long weekend with family. We are hitting up all the wineries near Seneca Lake. I'm having my very own F&W fest this weekend. Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
