Cracked I-phone glass/what are the repair options?

I am in Baltimore and there is a place where you can mail Iphones for repairs called Iphoneaid. It is www.iphoneaid.com.

They fixed my ipod the other day for $49. Great service and really fast.

I just had this issue yesterday and I spent way too much of my time dealing with Apple. I had to drive over a hour to get to their store only to have to make an apointment for a hour and a 1/2 later. This sucked! Then I was told it would cost $150 to fix. No thanks. I was just going to ditch the phone and start over and not with an I phone.

As I was walking out of the mall where the Apple store was I noticed a small store that had just opened that could fix it. Twenty minutes and $49 later glass was repaired. I wish I would have found this store before I wasted my day with Apple.

FYI- My phone has always been in an Otter box from day one. It dropped off my lap as I was getting out of the car and hit the ground. Not a very hard or far fall at all. I asked at both stores if there was a better case for protecting my phone. Both places told me I had the best kind of case to protect the phone. The Apple guy even questioned if I had it in the case when it broke.

You said you didn't have a case on it, I never had a case on any of my other phones either, but when I got the iPhone 4, it is so darn slick that I got a case. When my 13 yo paid for her iPhone (and her monthly data) we got her a case too. She had the Otterbox first, but it's so darn clunky and the rubber sides kept peeling off going into and out of her pocket that I ended up getting her the same case I have - a LifeProof. It's much much better (IMO) than the Otterbox. It's slim, doesn't peel apart in your pocket and is actually waterproof - something the Otterbox isn't. The only downside for me is that the additional peice for the earphones can be a bit time consuming and the case makes the phone a bit longer so it won't fit in off brnd arm bands etc, you have to buy them from lifeproof.

(I don't work for them, just love the product)
