CR or WL

I'm planning a trip to the World to celebrate my 40th birthday. It will be just myself and DS who is 10. We will be going at the beginning of October for 5 days.

I can't decide where to stay. Here are my options so far

1. Stay in a CR wing room without the dining plan or
2. Stay at the WL standard room with the dining plan

We stayed at CR last year (with Charley) in a wing room. The room was fine and the location is great. I don't know if I should stick with this as I know what to expect or if I should venture out and try something new.

What would you do?

Thanks,

Missy

I would try something new and go with WL. It is a beautiful, relaxing resort. Took my MIL and FIL in 2002 and we loved it there.

I've never stayed at CR, but would love to try the tower rooms.

You might like to upgrade your room at WL and cancel the dining option.

Hi Missy,
I just had that same dilema myself! I just booked the WL! My son really wanted to stay at WL or CR. He wanted WL just a bit more and since he made the Honor Roll first quarter and High Honor Roll this past quarter, I booked the WL. He's in 10th grade and last year he was in summer school, so I'd say he's improved quite a bit! :goodvibes What would your son prefer?

Order the new DVD off the Disney website. We just got it in the mail last night and it's totally awesome! Way better than the earlier ones. They show lots on WL, but a little on CR too. The Recreation Guide, Dave; he totally rocks! He's my hero! There's a separate CD planning guide too. The DVD might help you decide too. You have time.
Have fun!

Given the size and ages of your traveling party, I think the WL with dining plan is a no-brainer.

We were going to try WL on our next trip but when it came time to book it we went with our customary resort of choice - CR. For our traveling party, we like the bigger room and added convenience of CR.

Have fun!

Thanks for all the help.

I'm trying to keep this a secret from my son, so I can't get his imput.

I'm leaning toward the WL at this moment. I'm just a little worried about the transportation. But that can be good or bad no matter where you stay.

Thanks again.

Transportation was good when we were there in May 02. At the most we waited 5-10 minutes for buses and/or boats.

Happy planning. What a nice surprise!

Normally I would pick the CR, but since you can get the dining plan with WL I would go that route. Make sure you're okay with the restaurants NOT included in the dining plan, World Showcase ones, especially.

Transportation at WL was fine in September of 2004. I've read lots of complaints about it, but we've never felt we waited too long getting from place to place, although I'm sure when comparing it to CR it's gonna be somewhat less convenient since it doesn't have the monorail. I think the dining plan would be a good idea too.
