Cozumel with a ton of passengers in town

We will be on the Dream 12/16-12/23 and the day we will be in Cozumel (12/21), it looks extremely crowded according to the port schedule. Two Carnival ships, a Celebrity ship, a Norweigian ship, and two RCL including the Wonder of the Seas which holds almost 6000 passengers. This seems insane but I am getting 24k passengers in town that day.

Our initial plan is a beach club, and we were considering Mr. Sanchos or Paradise Beach. (I was also considering Playa Uvas as a non-all-inclusive alternative, mainly for the kayak and snorkel gear, but I've seen a couple not great reviews here).

Curious if you'd stick with one of those on a very crowded day, or change plans based on the number of ships in port. And if that's the case, what would you recommend on a really busy day in Cozumel? Stay on the ship???

I'd make plans for what I like to do. Cozumel handles 6-8 ships frequently, and people spread out. Many take the ferry to the mainland for excursions, some shop, some head for beaches . . . there are plenty of taxis and places to go.

I can’t say it was busy, but we did one of the catamaran snorkeling excursions (I believe it was with Fury) that picked us up right near the ship (never left the dock). And had sometime on a private beach as well, it included drinks. I highly recommend it, we had tons of fun (2 adults and a 9 year old)

Thank you! We did the Fury on our last cruise and enjoyed it. That is definitely another option but we kind of want to do something different.

On our Cozumel cruise stop we picked Nachi Cocum Beach Club for a few reasons trying to balance our party’s interests.
  • First was their set max occupancy. Our visit was during spring break and saw reviews where other places just kept packing people in.
  • Our party was all adults and we liked this resort was geared to a more adult vibe. While kids are welcome there are better choices for young families.
  • Very reasonably priced. We added beach side tent massage and it was fantastic.
This is my only experience on Cozumel so nothing to compare. I was perfectly satisfied at Nachi Cocum with food, drinks, prompt service, lovely clean beach, easy choice of seating, serenity, etc. The food was really good!

“Space at our Nachi Cocom Cozumel Beach break is limited to 100 guests daily.

By limiting numbers, we guarantee a more private beach club experience. In addition, our remote location lets you relax in peace and avoid loud music and crowded beaches with crowds of other cruise ship passengers.”

We were at Paradise Beach on a 5 ship day. I was concerned but it was a non issue. I think they may have only been taking people who had prereserved the all inclusive. But it was not crowded to the point of being uncomfortable at all.

We also did the fury catamaran booked through Disney back in 2019 there were 8 ships i believe in port. We had a really awesome time. See my tr for pics and info.

I was going to suggest this as well.
